"Hoof Clay" with CBD by Equine Care By Design
Hoof Clay with added CBD by Equine Care By Design. We have a formula for both "Dry" Weather & "Wet" Weather. Kills harmful bacteria AND promotes healthy tissue repair!

About Jerry Huntsinger, the Farrier Who Made It Possible

Jerry, Co-owner of Equine Care by Design, has been in the equine world his entire life. Over the past 23 years he and his clients have tried countless different products for hooves, legs and body. Jerry’s Farrier business covers over 300 miles from his home in Goldendale Washington. Working in the high desert of Central Oregon to the damp clement of the Pacific Northwest. Both extremes have their own difficulties with hooves. Both can be summed up by bacteria and fungus.

Partnering With Organic Chemist and CBD Specialist, Lou Anne McKown

In 2019, Jerry was at his Farrier appointment with Lou Anne McKown. Lou Anne asked how her horse’s hooves were doing, and Jerry expressed his concerns for the hooves. After discussing a few possible products she could try, he went on to tell her about what he would love to see in a hoof product—something that would actually work, and heal horses hooves at the same time.  With Lou Anne’s extensive background in science and chemistry, she could make it work!! Jerry and Lou Anne spent many hours on case studies to find just the right blends. Working in uncharted waters, we were amazed how the horses’ hooves and bodies healed within a very short period of time.

Lou Anne Has a Master’s Degree in Medicinal Chemistry!
Says Lou Anne, "A Master’s degree and 12.5 years as a Medicinal Chemist in the pharmaceutical industry effectively convinced me that nature has all that we need to heal ourselves.  My career morphed into Analytical Chemistry where I learned of the vast properties of the cannabis plant.  Numerous testimonials and my own topical pain relief sparked my curiosity into the use on equines.  With Jerry’s help and a great deal of recipe research, we have developed a product line
that we’re all proud of.  And the horses love!! Keeping it simple and natural!”

It’s Not Just Ingredients, It is Combining The Right Ingredients— the RIGHT Way!
In addition, what most people don’t understand is how the mixture of a product can create synergy or keep it dormant. Have you ever bought a product for yourself or an equine buddy and not gotten the results you were promised or expected? We have all been there, it is frustrating. Having a chemist working on the development of all the products ensures they are properly formulated, have an even consistency, and they work!

Is It True That There Is NO Other Hoof Formulation Like It?

YES. No other hoof care formulation is even close! Our ingredients are especially important to us. We believe horses have been exposed to an overabundance of chemicals and harmful products. You will not find garbage in our products… we took it a step further than most; we only use human grade ingredients!

Got Abscesses? Stone Bruises? White Line? Thrush? Sore Feet? Cankers?

Our HOOF Clay is the answer. With added CBD for comfort, you won’t find a product to beat it. Just open up the jar and you can SMELL the difference! Use it on your horses hooves and you are in for a very successful experience when used properly!

What Are The Ingredients?

  • Both formulas have the same ingredients but the dry climate formula has more CBD and Vitamin E (All HUMAN Grade!)
  • Bentonite clay – removes toxins and reduces the effects of toxins on the skin, aids in the reduction of inflammation due to toxins; antibacterial properties; provides minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and sodium to the skin
  • Vitamin E – Antioxidant, helps remove destructive free radicals, repair damage and moisturize
  • Rosemary oil – pain relief, bug repellant, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory
  • Peppermint oil – pain relief, anti-microbial
  • CBD (Cannabidiol) – pain relief, anti-inflammatory
  • Borax – trace mineral, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and anthelmintic
  • Witch hazel – Astringent, anti-inflammatory
  • Water – the fluid of life. We use it to get to the proper consistency
In a DRY Climate? Use our DRY Hoof Clay With CBD For Added Comfort!
If you are in a dry time of year, this is the product to use! As with any of our products, there is no right or wrong way to use. With our Dry Hoof Clay, what we have found is that the best way is to clean off excess dirt or mud. You can use this product on a wet or dry hoof and do a thin layer in all of the crevasses and a thin layer over the sole. We use this product to remove any bacteria and or fungus, and it also can be wrapped to draw out abscesses bruises, cankers, and aleviate white line disease. This is a great packing agent to help reduce sore feet from long hauls. I also love using this product after competition to help reduce swelling after runs in not ideal ground situations or just as a preventative for long weekends. 1 pound $68

In A WET Climate? Use Our WET Hoof Clay With CBD For Added Comfort!
Use our Wet Hoof Clay on a wet or dry hoof, apply a thin layer in all of the crevasses and a thin layer over the sole. This product removes any bacteria and or fungus that causes thrush.  It also can be wrapped to draw out abscesses, bruises, and cankers. Use as a packing agent to help reduce sore feet from long hauls; after competition to help reduce swelling following runs in not ideal ground situations; or just as a preventative for long weekends.

How Do I Apply Hoof Clay?
Hoof Clay is applied to the bottom of the horses hoof quite easily. First you want to pick the hoof and inspect it. At this point it is a good idea to use a wire brush to knock off the finer particles as well ruffing up the sole and frog. NOTE if your frog is highly infected it’s better to irrigate the inflamed area versus using the wire brush! After this step you are now ready to apply the clay! Start with a pinch of product and work it into the frog and sole area. Add as needed. YOU ONLY NEED A THIN LAYER. I found that when applied heavy you just waste product… Set the hoof down and go to the next!

What Do Horse Owners SAY About Hoof Clay?

"The “Hoof Clay” is a game changer as far as I’m concerned. I love that it comes in a “Dry” and “Wet” Climate Formula, because during the winter months my horse has to be stalled and his hooves tend to have a chronic problem with bacteria, poop frogs and tender feet. Since I have been using the “Wet Climate Formula Hoof Clay” on a regular basis, my horse’s frog is healthy again with no bacteria. I also love the smell of it and think he dose too, because when I’m done applying it to his feet… he’s licking his lips. I give the “Equine Care By Design Hoof Clay “five (5) large gold stars and I guarantee you won’t be sorry you purchased and tried this product."

Tracy

"About a year and half ago my friend introduced me to a gelding looking for his forever home. She had done training on him years ago, but his owner had more horses than she could ride and he had been sitting in the pasture for years. When I came out to meet him, he was a wonderful horse but there was one big problem. He had a huge chunk of his hoof that was broken off with no explanation. I still to this day don’t know why I decided to take him home and help him, but I did. He saw multiple vets. I had x-rays taken. I reached out to other vets for second and third opinions. No one could tell me what was wrong with his foot and worse, if he would ever fully recover. I washed his hoof daily and applied product after product trying to fight the mud and bacteria. No matter what I tried, his foot continued to get worse. The hoof growth slowed down, his frog was shrinking, he had multiple abscesses and even his overall foot confirmation was off. I started looking for more resources and ran across an advertisement for Jerry speaking about hoof health at a local horse convention. I met Jerry and shared my geldings story.

He came out a week later and introduced me to the hoof clay. He gave me a daily regime of cleaning, drying and applying the Pacific NW Formula clay. Within weeks we saw miraculous change for the better. After 5 months, his hoof was completely grown back, the frogs were healthy and his confirmation was back to what it should be. I could not be more thankful for this product. There’s a saying “no hoof, no horse” and I can honestly say this product saved my horse’s life.” Laura

"Chief had a hairline abscess blow out, I stated using the Equine Care By Design Liniment at day one as well as the Hoof Clay for the bottom of his hooves. Day 3 Chief is walking better and bearing weight, loving both products!! Day 5 another huge improvement!" Sandy

But I Have A Competing Hoof Product… Aren’t They The Same?
Just open the jar and smell-- you'll see an immediate difference! If our competitors offered what we do, we wouldn’t have gone to the tremendous trouble and investment of time to create this amazing product line.  There are countless products that claim they will kill both bacteria and fungus, in some cases this is true… but at the expense of healthy tissue as well that horses need to build a healthy hoof. He has also spent time with essential oils that do help but have a failure point. Our equine chemist has a MASTER’S DEGREE in Medicinal Chemistry with added expertise in the benefits of CBD for horses— order our product and compare— you’ll become a believer!
