Nutri-Gard
Nutri-Gard provides ingredients recommended when negative stress factors create an imbalance between mucus and acid secretions in the stomach. When wet, Nutri-Gard absorbs a significant volume of water to form an enriched fibrous gel, which maintains regular mucosal protection in a very natural feed form and limits the acid attack, which is a major cause of gastric ulceration.

Nutri-Gard provides a concentrated source of easily digested soluble fiber so it's completely available to the horse. What Is The Science Behind Nutri-Gard?
The unique form of soluble fiber in Foran's Nutri-Gard contains a relatively high percentage of galactose. This contributes to increased activity in the pancreas, which increases Trypsin production. Research in the University of Lund demonstrated that the Trypsin activity in pigs (also monogastrics) increased over four times within 8 days compared to animals not fed this fiber. This increase in enzyme activity leads to improved feed metabolism which has a positive influence on the blood sugar and insulin levels leading to a less stressed and more relaxed animal.

Researchers at the Veterinary University of Vienna (Wein) carrying out a pilot study using Nutri-Gard concluded: "Since the clinical success rate after using Nutri-Gard was significantly greater than that what could have occurred after spontaneous improvement or healing, we concluded that Nutri-Gard has a beneficial activity on the healing of gastric ulcer syndrome in the horse.
