Copper Max Paste is a palatable, easy-to-use paste formulation containing Copper, Zinc and biotin all in a 30g graduated oral dosing syringe. Ideally suited for horses at grass but also may be used in the management of Copper in take of those horses kept indoors where daily in-feed supplementation is not the preferred choice. Copper is considered to be one of the most important trace elements in equine nutrition. Among its many functions is the association it has with pregnant mares and Developmental Orthopedic Disease (DOD) in their offspring. Copper supplementation is essential as many regular horse rations including many types of forage contain insufficient available Copper to meet the horse’s requirements.

The chelated elements in Copper-Max Paste fulfill all the requirements of both A.A.F.C.O. (American Association of Feed Control Officials) and European Regulatory specifications and requirements.

Why Is Copper Important For My Horse?
Copper is one of the most important trace elements in the horse.  Others are zinc, iron, iodine, manganese and selenium.  Copper is a critical element in many important metabolic pathways in horses.  Copper also is necessary in bone formation, elastin formation, pigment formation, reproduction and immune system function. 

The daily require for copper in horses is 25-30mg/kg of dry matter intake, or 25-30mg/2.2 pounds of dry matter intake. Supplementation is ideally carried out on a routine daily basis (COPPERVIT).  Where this is not possible i.e., horses at pasture, supplementation may take the form of a dose of a paste formulation 2-3 times a week (COPPERMAX).
