About Chris Bohenek
Chris Bohenek brings over 13 years of working horseback experience in handling both horses and cattle to his students. After having worked for different ranches throughout Montana, starting colts and taking care of cattle, Chris and his wife Lynne relocated to the Bitterroot Valley of Montana. There Chris does clinics and demonstrations locally as well as traveling abroad, using his natural horsemanship and Vaquero style integrated with his "Core Balance" exercises to help both horse and rider. Chris also works with neighboring cattle and is always building quality Vaquero style ranch geldings and taking in a select amount of outside horses for training.
A Message From Chris Bohenek On His Training Philosophy
"My belief in the teaching of horses is " The path of least resistance cultivates the most growth and reward." I take my natural horsemanship background and heavy influence in the traditional Vaquero style of horsemanship combined with my personal approach and fundamentals of strengthening your core muscles to offer you a quiet and rewarding experience that will leave horse and rider confident, safe and balanced. To me, nothing is easier for a horse to understand than his own idea.
If we approach each situation with the horse's best interest in mind, we raise our percentage for success each and every time. I call this the "Hunting and Gathering" process, offering the horse a feel, and in doing so it allows the horse to "hunt" for a least resistant path, finding the release he then "gathers" the information and stores it, giving him his own reservoir of knowledge that he can dip into each time he needs it. Knowing there will be a release each and every time resistance is applied will create a soft and willing horse. "- Chris

What Do Horse Owners Say About Chris's System?
"Chris Bohenek is a great clinician. He has a wonderful approach to horses. The horse is always first, he thinks like they do and has amazing results without the use of heavy hands or abusive methods. It is amazing to watch Chris work and in (seems like) a matter of moments, takes an unbroke or unruly horse and turns him into a willing horse that is easy for his owner to work with. Chris helps people to understand how to work with their horse and not against them. The "Core Balance" is a great tool for improving your horsemanship and becoming a better partner for your horse. I highly recommend Chris for clinics or training." Shari G.
"I've been active in the horse world for over 40 years and have never worked with anyone like Chris. He has opened my eyes to horses in a whole new way. My horses have always been willing, happy partners but Chris's techniques have enhanced this with a lighter, softer feel. I've learned so much about giving my horses a quick release as a reward when they respond to pressure which eventually eliminates the braciness we see in so many of today's horses. Chris's methods encourage responsive horses with positive attitudes and a healthy curiosity with no anxiety such as tail switching, head tossing or teeth grinding. It's exciting to see my horses respond so quickly and I'm enjoying learning along with them!" -Judy M.
