Muller's Smart Carts™
Muller's Smart Carts™ were created in 1976 for riders who wanted a better, stronger wheelbarrow to stand up to the heavy use and barn acids at boarding facilities, ranches, and personal stables.

About Our Company
Back in 1976, retired Brigadier General Henry Muller of Santa Barbara, California (pictured at right), got himself interested in a long-standing problem among horse owners: They wanted an easy-to-use stable cart that was big enough to haul high volumes of feed and bedding, tough enough to stand up to heavy use and barn acids, and yet agile and lightweight enough to negotiate narrow stalls and rough ground. The result? His patented Smart Cart™ was an immediate success at boarding facilities, ranches, and personal stables of the day.

Since then, we have strived to produce the highest quality utility carts for your Horse Stable, Garden, Marina and so many other uses. Always hand-crafted by dedicated, long-term employees, our materials receive an attention to detail far beyond that of any automated fabrication shop. When your cart leaves our location, we stand behind it 100%. The limited-lifetime frame warranty will stand up to any regular use or material defect and replacement or repair will be made in short order.

Muller's Smart Carts™
Smart design! Muller’s Smart Carts™ are designed to stand upright for easy raking or shoveling in, dumping, and lifting all sorts of heavy items…very easy on your back!  The tubs are seamless and have no bolt holes, so there’s less stress on the material and they can’t leak; Less prone to cracking, too.  Our patented snap-lock design lets you remove them from the carriage for other chores as well.  Smart Cart tubs are more functional and hold more volume because of their impressive depth.

Is Plastic Really Strong Enough For A Utility Cart?
Ours is! Smart Carts tubs are made from advanced ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), a special thermoplastic with long-chain molecules that transfer loads more effectively to the polymer backbone. This exceptionally tough material has the highest impact strength of any thermoplastic you can buy. It’s ultra-resistant to corrosive chemicals and has a coefficient of friction so low (comparable to that of Teflon®) that it’s called “self-lubricating”! It’s also 15 times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel and is nontoxic. Needless to say, our UHMWPE tubs dramatically outperform wooden, steel, and lesser plastic cart tubs.   We offer a (5) year limited warranty on these tubs.

The Smart Carts Frame Look Light, Is It Tough Enough For The Job?
Absolutely! Our frame is handcrafted from 6063-T832 aluminum alloy for light weight and superior strength. Then it’s satin-etched and anodized for good looks and maximum weather resistance. Our undercarriage—the sturdiest in the business—features a solid steel axle housed in a steel brace running from wheel to wheel under the frame. This special construction method is stronger than other attachment methods and cannot be torn from the frame. Yet a finished Smart Cart weighs less than 46 pounds.

Which Wheel Should I Choose?
Our most asked question is 'which wheels should I choose?'  There is no exact answer, but in general, we suggest that if you will use your cart on concrete, firm dirt or grass, even sloppy mud on firm ground, the 20" spoke wheels are best.  Because of their larger diameter, they roll a bit easier, and because they are narrower, they maneuver “slightly” easier.  However, if you have sand or a very soft grass or mulch, etc, the wider 16" tire will be a better choice.  Sometimes however, it just comes down to the look or your preference.

Also, know that we have ‘flat free’ versions of both tires available for an extra fee.  The advantage of course, is no more worries about flat tires.  The trade-off is a ride that is a bit firmer or bumpier because there isn’t the air to absorb some of the shock on rough terrain.

What Else Should I Know?
At Muller's Smart Carts, quality is in the details.  We bend our own aluminum frames and individually match each piece for your cart.   Our wheels have extra-heavy spokes, replaceable sealed bearings, and are mounted on black plated axles (the highest protection). Replaceable steel skid plates protect the legs from wear. (You won’t find this attention to detail in some of our competitors’ carts.)  Even our hardware nuts are self-locking so the frame won’t loosen over time.  And all parts are available if needed.

What Other Products Do You Offer?
Our Smart Carts are offered in a 7 and 12 cubic foot model – both size tubs ‘snap into’ our single frame.  This patented feature allows for interchangeability as well as eliminates the stress cracks found on bolted tubs.  The tubs last much longer, can be easily removed for other applications.    Both sizes of our tubs offer you a choice of Blue, Green, Gray, or Black colors.

Our new Muck Caddy ™ is for individuals that may not need a cart and prefer to use a muck bucket. However, our muck cart is the only double cart – made with the same quality and balance so well known in our Smart Carts, and we use the same 20” wheels!   Our limited lifetime frame warranty also applies.

Are These Products Worth The Cost?
Our customers say, “Yes!” Sure, a lesser cart is okay for light work—for a little while. But if you want real value in a workhorse—you’ll want “the right tool for the job.” The real question isn’t how much Smart Carts costs up-front, but how long it keeps on giving. When you do the math, the cost per year of Smart Carts beats that of any other utility cart on the market. And unlike a typical wheelbarrow that rusts and slowly falls apart, our Smart Cart will remain strong, tight-framed and (nearly) maintenance-free year after year (the tires need air once in a while J ) And for muck buckets, our Muck Caddy ™ will save you time and energy by using (2) buckets.  You will have purchased a universal tool that can hold up to 250 lbs, is easily portable, and has a handle that is adjustable to (4) positions. Hauling your buckets on a near level plane is much more ergonomic and less work, and even lets you fill the buckets with less chance of spilling!
