PORTA-GRAZER by Grazing Feeders, Inc.
Let your horse eat the way nature intended with the PORTA-GRAZER.

How the PORTA-GRAZER Came To Be

I have spent my entire life with horses in the following capacities- rancher, breeder, competitor, farrier and natural hoof trimmer. During this time I have observed numerous problems associated with the way horses are fed in confinement. I realized that most of the problems are caused by what I call the "feast and famine" feeding routine confined horses are subjected to. Natural grazing usually consumes up to sixteen hours per day of an equines time. So I set out to change this.

The PORTA-GRAZER is designed to replicate as close as possible a natural grazing environment for your confined equines by slowing down feed intake while simulating head down grazing behavior. This method is better for the horse physically as well as mentally. We also knew it needed to be user friendly while at the same time safe for the horse with no locks, latches or hardware to fool with. It is perfect, too, for traveling...no mess, wasted feed and unsanitary conditions with the PORTA-GRAZER. My goal is to contribute to better equine health as well as saving money for the owner.

PORTA-GRAZER
PORTA-GRAZER is a new feeding system that is going to make feeding your horse easier for you and better for them! It is a system that simulates natural grazing by allowing your horse to eat hay or pellets at a naturally slower pace. It replaces the usual feast and famine system of being fed twice a day and eating too quickly. This durable feeder aids your horse’s digestion by allowing your horse to eat the way nature intended, slowly throughout the day.

How Does The PORTA-GRAZER Work?
Hay is placed in the feeder. Then the restrictor pan is placed on top of the hay. The restrictor pan has a special arrangement of holes sized according to the horse’s size and type of feed to be consumed. The feed is pulled through the holes and torn off as it is being consumed, simulating natural grazing. As the feed is being pulled through the holes, sand and dirt are removed collecting out of reach in the bottom of the feeder to be discarded later. Each bite is eaten as it is pulled through the holes not allowing the feed to be picked through or dropped to the floor where parasites and sand may be ingested.

The feed pan can spin and be moved side to side making for easy access to all of the feed. The pan lowers to the bottom as the feed is consumed. The feed pan can be removed quickly and easily lifting it straight up out of the top of the feeder. This action is almost impossible for the horse to achieve. There are no locks, latches or hardware to fool with. To reinsert the pan simply drop it in.

A 1/2 inch drain plug makes it easy to soak your feed if you have need to.
PORTA-GRAZER TRAVELER reduces travel stress for you and your horse by not interrupting your horses feeding regiment while away from home. Just grab it from the stall, fill it with feed, pop on the lid and go. When the lid is removed it then becomes a 7.5 gallon water trough.

What Do Customers Say About The PORTA-GRAZER?

Hey, we want to let you know that we love our PORT-GRAZERS!  We had been feeding 4 bales of hay a week to our 3 horses.  After buying them each a PORT-GRAZER we are now down to 3 bales a week!  They are all keeping the same body weight with less hay, so I guess that is because they are not wasting any feed.  The other great thing is that now stall cleaning time is about a 1\3 of what it used to be.
–Jon & Bonnie Pata, Corning, CA

Just a follow up. The PORTA-GRAZER is fantastic! I used it on all 3 of my horses and it was amazing the difference in their attitudes and then of course the amount of hay that was not thrown on the stall floor and walked through. Have taken it to my trainer and he will be talking to you about putting PORTA-GRAZER throughout his barn!! – Lance

The PORTA-GRAZERS work great! They took to them right away spending most of their time eating, not wasting hay and messing their stalls. My stall cleaning time has gone from about 45 minutes to just a few minutes a day. Great product. Thanks.
