In 1955 Bill and Bob Gotwals started in the trucking business with one truck. Since that time, the family owned and operated business has grown to include Brook Ledge Inc. and XpressWay, our van freight division. (XpressWay hauls general commodity truck load freight and operates within a 250 mile radius of Reading, PA.) Brook Ledge Inc. is now one of the largest Horse Transportation companies in North America. Operating out of its home office in Oley, PA, Brook Ledge Inc. maintains terminals on our small farms in Lexington, KY and Ocala, FL as well as basing vans in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Long Island NY, and South Florida.

In addition to operating our own full service maintenance shops in Oley, PA and Lexington, KY, we have been building our own custom horse vans at the Oley facility for the last 25 years. How Do Horses Travel On The Brook Ledge Fleet?
In addition to taking good care of your horse, we at Brook Ledge Inc. are concerned that your horse travel in the optimum stall space to reduce stress during the trip. Although we supply the standard stall alternatives (stall, stall & 1/2 and box stall), we urge our customers to consider the box stall option. Recent industry research and articles have noted the health advantages of box stalls for transporting horses. Horses shipped in box stalls arrive fresher and are less inclined to have any health issues related to shipping. Most of the top stables and trainers ship their horses in box stalls. Their experience has shown them that even though the initial expense is higher, the actual cost is lower due to virtually no sickness or 'down time'.
