 Whips-a-Daisy®
Are you looking for a smarter, more effective, training tool for your horse?  We believe the Whips-a-Daisy® is your answer!

How Did The Whips-a-Daisy® Come To Be?

Just like others, I have used a plastic bag or towel on the end of a whip because I wanted to help my horse understand the cue of moving forward by the sight and sounds of a more visible object on the end of the whip, but without the sting or discomfort of it.  I never believed you had to inflict pain or fear to train a horse or any animal.  You need to develop their trust without their fear of reprisal.  After hundreds of plastic bags being destroyed and towels falling off on the trail, I decided I had to find a more permanent solution that was aesthetically pleasing, durable and effective at the same time.  With a year of research, trials and several prototypes, the “Whips-a-Daisy®” was created.  The streamers were customized because I wanted something that would capture and hold any horse’s attention.  The metallic streamers and the sounds they make when shaken satisfied my desired purposes.   This is the key to successfully training a horse - - -  if you do not have their undivided attention, you cannot work with them, let alone, train them. The 3 different sizes make it easy to achieve your training objectives, no matter what they might be.

How Can I Use the Whips-a-Daisy® to Better Handle My Horse?

The Whips-a-Daisy® was designed to Sensitize and Desensitize your horse - - that is, to “Train without Pain®”.  This is also a registered trademark for the Whips-a-Daisy®, and it holds true to its motto.  When dealing with all horses, young or old, ground work is the foundation of any successful training program.   Round pen training, training in hand, lunge line training, etc., all will benefit from using the Whips-a-Daisy®.   Not only is it a great tool for these training objectives, I also developed it for safety purposes, especially for those relatively inexperienced in handling horses – and perhaps – feeling a little vulnerable around more aggressive horses.  Some examples are:

    •    Stall Safety:  For horses crowding at the door at feeding time, the Whips-a-Daisy®” backs them off so you can safely feed them and maneuver within the stall

    •    Crowding at the gate in the pasture:  If several horses are in a paddock or pasture and you are trying to bring your horse out or in, using the “Whips-a-Daisy®” provides a safe means to back the others off and protect yourself without any contact with the other horses.

    •    Trailer Safety in loading horses:   The “Whips-a-Daisy®” can provide gentle, subtle coaxing to help load your horse instead of physical force, whipping, blinding and instilling fear – all of which are totally unproductive in teaching your horse to load freely.  It takes practice with the Whips-a-Daisy® and patience.

    •    Riding with the “Whips-a-Daisy®”:  It works great, either in the ring or on the trail.  You can really move your horse forward.

How Can The Whips-a-Daisy Improve the CONFIDENCE of My Horse?
When introducing the Whips-a-Daisy®, remember that every horse’s initial reaction will be a little different when the Whips-A-Daisy® is viewed for the first time.  That is why you have to first introduce the Whips-A-Daisy® slowly and on the ground…with a soothing voice and gentle soft movements.  For the first few times, it may slightly intimidate and sensitize your horse, but it will not hurt them.  Eventually, your horse will become more accustomed—even interested—in the Whips-A-Daisy®. This new found confidence will show up in a many ways, and you’ll enjoy a better relationship as horse and rider.  Horses gain confidence in the  Whips-a-Daisy® because they will use their instincts in the same way as they would in a herd scenario or pecking order.  You will be amazed at how your horse will quickly learn to respect the Whips-a-Daisy® and know instinctively what you are asking, but not fear it at all.

Can I Take the Whips-a-Daisy® In The Show Ring?
The Whips-a-Daisy® was designed as a training tool to develop a more respectful and attentive, yet confident horse, no matter what discipline or training/riding objective you wish to achieve.  It is not yet approved for the show ring.  But the confidence achieved with the proper use of the  Whips-a-Daisy® can translate into a better show performance and response to cues.

What Sizes And Colors of the Whips-a-Daisy® Are Available?
The Whips-a-Daisy® is available in 3 sizes - - Riding Bat, Training and Lunging.  Most people get all 3!  Beautiful, durable and long lasting, you’ll enjoy the great colors:  Black, Royal Blue, Red, Lime Green, Pink and Purple!  Literally, a color and size for everyone.  Don’t let their fun and splashy appearance fool you.  The Whips-a-Daisy® is a tremendous training tool that can really capture the attention of your horse.

What Do People SAY About the Whips-a-Daisy®?

“I was fascinated with the  Whips-a-Daisy® and immediately saw it’s potential!  I got all 3 sizes (riding crop, training whip and lunge whip). No more plastic bags or flags or scarfs tied to a whip. I introduced it slowly to my Morgan, Sugar, but she was comfortable with it in minutes. She seemed to love the sparkling colors and sounds. I actually walked up and down the barn gently showing my  Whips-a-Daisy® to every horse in the barn— even the foals. Within 2 days, I could swish it up and down the barn aisle without scaring any of the horses, and they seemed to love it! My ONLY problem is as soon as I get it out, the other riders take it from me to use with THEIR horses! Everyone loves it!

“Love the Whips-a-Daisy!  It has helped my training immensely.  My young filly was quite taken by it at first but now respects it and knows what is expected of her when she sees it or hears it. My barrel racer is very responsive to it around the barrels.  Was having issues of evading getting close to the barrel.   Now with the Whips-a-Daisy, he has learned to do his job a lot better and getting faster times.  I used the bat size for this.  So many uses I can't imagine what I did without it!!  I recommend it to all my horse friends.”

“I was looking for a tool to de-spook my horse.  So far it is a useful tool & I can see how it will be for many years to come.”

“I have purchased all 3 sizes and am very pleased with the results.  Have numerous uses around my barn.  I have a very testy stud that has not developed stall manners.  I use the Whips-a-Daisy with him and he is a perfect gentleman in the stall leading to the pasture etc.  He really respects it and I didn't even have to touch him with it.”

“I have ridden with the Whips-A-Daisy on trails teaching young horses to go through water ditches etc. who balked at the very thought of it before but not when using the Whips-a-Daisy!!  Success!!  Also for herding sheep and cows to get them into their pens.  Endless uses for it.  I am so pleased and would highly recommend it for anyone who has horses or other livestock.”
