Equine Challenge Supplements™
Help support a healthy gut and digestive system with Equine Challenge™ products!

About Us
At Equine Challenge™ we believe forage specificity is paramount before horses get sick, not after!  Sadly, more times than not we consider diet specificity when our horses become sick and we want them to recover functionally and quickly.

Equine Challenge™  is pro-active nutrition which provides the basic building blocks for day to day life and allows the flexibility to meet the nutritional needs of horses, regardless of how little or how much is physically demanded.    Not only are our ingredients synergistically proportioned in the bag, they are synergistically balanced to compliment whatever forage you feed your horse, be it alfalfa, grass or oat hay.

Equine Challenge Supplements™ contain no byproducts or fillers such as Distiller's Dried Grain solutes, ground alfalfa, wheat millrun, wheat middlings, soymeal, beet pulp, rice bran, soybean or oat hulls.  Equine Challenge Supplement™ products contain no corn, no wheat, no alfalfa, no soy beans, no molasses, no soy oil, no mineral oil, no vegetable oil and no corn oil.  The oil in Equine Challenge Supplements™ is the oil naturally found in Flaxseed, primarily Omega 3's and Omega 6's. Equine Challenge Supplements™ are synergistically proportioned to provide the nutritional building blocks and maintain the metabolic balance of your horse, regardless of whether you feed alfalfa, grass or oat hay.

Equine Challenge™ Probiotic

Equine Challenge™ Probiotic concentrated seven strains of viable Bacillus and bacteria in a milled flaxseed base makes an effective pro-biotic that can be easily incorporated into your supplementation program.  The microbial sources are guaranteed to provide bacteria that are both viable and effective in promoting intestinal well being.  We do not use probiotic extracts but rather give the viable microbials, which will colonize the gut, producing digestive enzymes, antibodies, synthisize a host of B Vitamins and cofactors. Probiotic extracts are no more than enzymes which have incredibly long shelf lives, but will not colonize the gut or produce anything which will support intestinal well being. Researchers report that when animals are fed lactic acid bacteria, the activity level of the immune system increases and, therefore, are less susceptible to disease.  Beneficial bacteria, especially Bacillus, produce many enzymes that may help to improve feed (nutrient) utilization.  Protease, amylase and other enzymes produced by pro-bacteria serve to break down complex feed molecules into less complex nutrients.  These smaller smaller components are more readily used by the animal (greater bio-availability).

Equine Challenge™ Probiotic PLUS
Equine Challenge™ Probiotic PLUS provides the same 7 strain viable probiotic package, PLUS the addition of 2 Pre-biotics, Fructoogliosaccharides (FOS) and Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) , "oligo" meaning "little or scant" and "saccharide" meaning "sugar".  These PRE-biotics are indigestible to the horse  but rather support the hindgut or cecal well being by promoting "friendly" bacteria and having a negative impact on the "bad" bacteria.  This mechanism helps to stabilize the intestinal micro-flora in the presence of digestive stress such as sudden dietary changes, grain overload, exposure to more lush forage or grasses.  Other stresses include transportation, environmental changes, training, antibiotic therapy, worming, steroid use and such.  PRE-biotics are destructive to pathogens in the gut and makes it difficult for pathogens to adhere to the gut lining and help with their elimination with other toxins from the gastro-intestinal system. There appears to be a symbiotic relationship between the combination of both the PRO-biotic and the PRE-biotic use. Together these  two elements create a greater positive gastro-intestinal metabolic support than these elements have individually. In more simple terms, PRE-biotic feed and nourish the "good or friendly" bacteria while preventing the "bad" bacteria an opportunity to flourish thus maintaining a stable micro-flora leading to a thriving gastro-intestinal tract.

Can Equine Challenge Probiotic Plus™ Help My Horse With Sweet Itch or Rain Rot?
Yes! Treat your horses from the INSIDE with Equine Challenge™ Probiotic Plus to help your horse maintain a healthy gut. Most of your horses' immune system is dependent upon having a healthy digestive system. Equine Challenge™ Probiotic Plus can help your horse to have the building blocks necessary for good digestive and immune health.

Equine Challenge™ PREbiotic

Equine Challenge™ PREbiotic contains two different prebiotics, Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and Mannanoligosaccharides (MOS) , "oligo" meaning "little or scant" and "saccharide" meaning "sugar".  These PRE-biotics are indigestible to the horse but rather support the hindgut or cecal and colonic well being by promoting "friendly" bacteria and having a negative impact on the "bad"bacteria.  This mechanism helps to stabilize the intestinal micro-flora in the presence of digestive stress such as sudden dietary changes, grain overload, exposure to more lush forage or grasses.  Other stresses include transportation, environmental changes, training, antibiotic therapy and such.

PRE-biotics are destructive to pathogens in the gut and make it difficult for pathogens to adhere to the gut lining and help with their elimination with other toxins from the gastro-intestinal system. These PRE-biotics will enhance the existing bacterial or micro-flora environment of the equine gut.  At anytime the horse is under stress from whatever origin, the micro-flora status of the horse is threatened.  Adding Equine Challenge™ PRE-biotic to your horse's diet will help to stabilize the existing micro-flora of the gut and decrease the possibility of negative consequences resulting from digestive disruptions thus reducing incidences of colic. In more simple terms, PRE-biotic feed and nourish the "good or friendly" bacteria while preventing the "bad" bacteria an opportunity to flourish thus maintaining a stable micro-flora leading to a thriving gastro-intestinal tract.

How Do I Know If My Horse Needs A Probiotic or a Pre-biotic?
Researchers report that when animals are fed lactic acid bacteria, the activity level of the immune system increases and, therefore, are less susceptible to disease. Beneficial bacteria, especially Bacillus, produce many enzymes that may help to improve feed (nutrient) utilization. Protease, amylase and other enzymes produced by pro-bacteria serve to break down complex feed molecules into less complex nutrients. These smaller,  components are more readily used by the animal (greater bio-availability).  Consider probiotic support with immune challenging protocols such as de-worming protocols, antibiotic therapy, diarrhea, abrupt feed, changes, hay belly, vaccinations, foaling and investing new foals with bacteria to avoid manure eating.

In more simple terms, PRE-biotic feed and nourish the "good or friendly" bacteria (PRObiotic) while preventing the "bad" bacteria an opportunity to flourish thus maintaining a stable micro-flora leading to a thriving gastro-intestinal tract.  PREbiotic is food for the "PRObiotic".
