North Dakota Flax Milling
North Dakota Milling offers COLD PRESSED flax that is milled fresh to your order! Cold Milled Flax has never been heated or cooled and has a higher concentration of Omega 3's for your horse.

About North Dakota Flax Milling Company
North Dakota Flax Milling Company is a company with a purpose. That purpose is to produce the BEST Cold Milled Flax in the industry and get it direct to your door. They are a family farm owned mill in the central part of North Dakota, already becoming nationally known for their State-of-the-Art, Stainless Steel Mill and processing facility! Nothing but the highest quality Flax ever goes through that mill— so horse owners never need to worry about contamination from other crops! Packaging from 50 pounds to 2000 pounds to semi-truck full is possible. The flax is “milled to order” so that ONLY the FRESHEST product is bagged to your order!

What Sets ND Flax Milling Company Apart from Other Flax Companies?
Flax is all we do! The great part about that is you will not have any contamination worries, wrong orders, wrong products, or left-over mixes. Our purpose is to supply the purest, freshest cold milled flax to your door. Our mill and all of its equipment is food grade compatible. Also, a big difference in our product and mill is that we only do cold milled ensuring a great product with a shelf life of up to two years!!

Is It True that ND Flax Milling Is FDA Inspected?
Yes! To guarantee that we offer the freshest product, we have contacted FDA, and have/will be in the future repeatedly FDA inspected to make sure our customers get the highest quality and cleanest product available. Our goal is to ensure clean and updated equipment in our facility for peace of mind.

North Dakota Mills Offers Both Whole Milled Flax Seed and Cold Milled Flax Seed:
Brown Seed  - most commonly grown, especially in North Dakota. Easy to come across, usually cost slightly less.
Yellow Seed  - Brighter color, slightly higher in Omega-3 content, slightly higher price.

Which Flax Seed Is Best For My Horse? (Brown or Yellow)?
Although brown flax may cost less, we recommend going with yellow seed! It is more bright, higher in Omega-3, and more appealing to horses.

Which Should I Select For My Horse?  WHOLE Milled or COLD Milled?
For your horse, cold milled flax is is recommended because of the ease of going straight from the bag into your horses food.  The reason we also sell whole flax is because you can play the market and pre-buy flax seed. Then, we store it for you for free and mill your stored seed and send it to you whenever you need more. Then your rates are locked in. Whole seed is hard for a horse to digest and therefor they lose a lot of the value of the seed.

Is It True That ND Flax Milling Uses Cold Milling? Why Is Cold Milling Important?
Yes, we use the cold milling process. In fact, that is all we do. The reason for us choosing that process and only that, it is proven to be the best way to preserve the Omega-3 and other nutrients and still being in a broken down form, making it easier for animals to digest. The seed is also already broken up which makes for a quick absorption in the animal’s body.

How Can Flax Help My Horse?
  • Brain health
  • Eye health
  • Natural anti inflammatory
  • Improvement of skin
  • Coat
  • Hooves
  • Healthy digestive system
  • Healthy heart
  • Pregnant mares
  • Healthy milk
  • Aids in the digestive system fighting sand colic
Do I Feed Flax Daily?
Yes! 8-12 oz./horse/day is recommended. This ensures reasonable benefits and affordable portions.
