STEP UP STIRRUP ®

STEP UP STIRRUP ®,  is a simple, elegant stirrup that elongates 6 inches from a rider’s usual stirrup length to allow the rider to mount any horse – easily and gracefully.

About The Step Up Stirrup®
Louise Ford (Weezie) is a lifelong horsewoman, and the inventor of the STEP UP STIRRUP ®, a simple and elegant stirrup that elongates 6 inches from a rider’s usual stirrup length to allow the rider to mount any horse – tall ones in particular – easily and gracefully. Because of her invention, she’s able to mount and ride horses that normally would be difficult, if not impossible to mount without assistance, given her own height is under 5’4’, and she’s admittedly not in the same shape she was twenty years ago.

She remembers how difficult it was when she rode as a child and came off her horse with no one around to help her remount and nothing in sight to use as make due mounting block, like a rock or a tree or a wobbly gate.  This meant lots of frustration and walking beside, not riding her horse.  Being a determined problem solver, she developed the Step Up Stirrup®.  Great for riders who aren’t tall themselves, or, let’s be honest, are getting older and less agile and may have added some extra inches to their midsections.

“There’s no reason anyone should give up a sport they love for any of the above reasons!” states Weezie.  “I decided to help myself and others who love to ride but feel they can’t any more because it’s too difficult to get on a horse in the first place”.
  • lower the Step Up Stirrup®
  • place foot in stirrup
  • mount
  • pull up the Step Up and snap it shut

What Do Horse Owners Say About The Step Up Stirrup®?

I just want to let you know that my Step Up Stirrups are on my saddle. I got to use them this week-end and it was great to be able to get on my horse from the ground. It was easy for me to get my foot up in the stirrup and to push myself up. It was a bit more difficult to swing my right leg over the horse (due to my short legs), but it should not be a problem for the average, normally built, person; it is not a problem anyways, I am getting fitter (going to the gym 3 times a week).

I also love the fact that the stirrups (I got the pair) are light (being aluminum). I would recommend for people to get the pair because most regular stirrups are made of steel and are much heavier and you want to have stirrups with similar weight on each side. I went on a very short trail ride with my horse (the first since my accident) and I felt more confident having the Step Up Stirrup, in case he acted up and I had to dismount, I knew I could get back on!

I am legally blind with very low vision.  When I need to dismount I'm unable to find anything to remount with.  With the Step Up Stirrip® I don't have to worry, it's on my saddle waiting for me to remount safely whereever I am.  It is added confidence anywhere, always there to give me a leg up.

I haven't mounted from the ground in a few years due to my bad back... But I used the Step Up Stirrup and said " Oh I did it ! I got up !  And my back feels fine ! "  I proceeded to do it again just to be sure !  As I was leaving the stable I told my friends "It even worked for me !
Carol Berger, former Fox Hunter, Jumper, Dressage rider, now Trail rider.

I had to see it for myself and try it. I was amazed! The quality, ease of use and ability it gives you to mount your horse freely is absolutely empowering! You will love it! It will change your life.
