We Review Breakthrough Horsemanship by Horse Trainer / Clinician Bob Jeffreys
Sub-title: A video toolbox filled with tips, techniques and philosophies vital to
achieving a true partnership with your horse.
The first thing I noticed is that Bob Jeffreys is comfortable
in front of a camera. When he is teaching it feels as though he is speaking directly to you. The video is well photographed and the background scenery is beautiful and adds to the viewing experience. The true value of
Breakthrough Horsemanship is the truly excellent and useful information that is systematically presented. To tape begins with a brief explanation of how the horse sees the world compared to how we humans see the
world. We must gain the horses trust to truly by the leader and that means we cannot use any methods that cause pain or fear. This is helpful in understanding the best way to communicate our intentions to our horses without
asking for more than the horse can give at the moment. Most teaching/training requires baby steps and by being patient with what we ask we do not test our horse to failure. In other words pushing to fast will guarantee a
mistake by the horse so ask many easy questions until the task you are asking of the horse is a minor improvement over previous steps. Bob demonstrates these concepts using several different horses.
On getting the yes answer from our horse Bob teaches his vowel method: A.E.I.O.U.
1.Ask 2.Encourage 3.Insist 4.Order 5.Undo Every think we ask of the horse begins with Ask and ends with Undo (or release the pressure).
This is extremely well considered information and is useful to any age horse of any riding discipline or horse of any age.
Covered on this tape are the following subjects.
1.Learning to gain your horses trust and get the yes answer. 2.Sacking the horse out. 3.Bridling, saddling and mounting your horse. 4.Picking up the feet. 5.Leading and lunging.
6.Moving out and stopping. 7.Groundwork. 8.There are several beneficial multi-purpose riding exercises demonstrated by Suzanne Sheppard with Bob doing the explanation of what we are watching and a description of the
benefits for horse and rider.
I believe every human that interacts with horses at any level should view this tape to truly enjoy
their horses and develop a real partnership. Horses would be better trained and have more willing attitudes if the Breakthrough Horsemanship principles would be consistently applied. Order Here at www.BobJeffreys.com
