Horse Trailer Tire Monitor, is Peace of Mind!Horse Trailering.
Trailering horses can be very stressful. One major concern is that there might be a breakdown due to tire failure.
by
L&S Safety Solutions, LLC. PressurePro

Usually, one is not aware when a tire becomes under inflated, which eventually leads to a blow-out if not attended to in the early stages. (Of course one can’t do anything about an instantaneous blowout caused by hitting something, or due to a tire that has worn out.) But many tires disintegrate due to under inflation, which leads to too much stress on the tire walls. Under inflated tires run hotter than tires that are properly inflated, so it is better to error with too much air in your tires, rather than too little. The use of a tire pressure monitoring system (“TPMS”) can significantly lower the incidents of tires disintegrating, by alerting the driver of the low-pressure tire before damage has occurred. Additionally, it will cut downtime, extend tire life, reduce maintenance and improve performance.

Tires running low on pressure require more fuel to overcome rolling resistance. Also, your truck uses more fuel and releases additional CO2 emissions, causing unnecessary pollution. Under -inflated tires waste over 5.4 million gallons of fuel everyday (over 2 billion gallons each year) in the U.S. alone. In addition, they have decreased life due to added bending and flexing of tread, adding additional tire/maintenance costs and downtime. Low pressure tires also require added distances for braking, and cause deteriorated handling and performance, meaning less safety for your horses, yourself, and others on the road. In fact, low tire pressure is the number one cause of tire failure, and contributes to tire disintegration, heat buildup, ply separation and sidewall/casing breakdowns.

Truck and horse trailer. The Department of Transportation (“DOT”) estimates that 37% of all tires on American roadways are under inflated. The DOT also estimates that tires running properly inflated could eliminate 250 lbs. of greenhouse gas emissions per vehicle per year, or more than 57 .5 Billion Pounds of Carbon Monoxide pollutants each year. Under inflated tires also lead to tread separation and tire failure resulting in 40,000 accidents, 33,000 injuries, and over 650 deaths (no official results are available on how many horses were killed or injured). Note that a difference of 10 lbs. in air pressure between a set of duals, literally drags the lower pressured tire 13 feet per mile! And under-inflated tires decrease a vehicle’s average MPG by as much as 3.3%.

Downtime, Cost Increases
Interest in tire pressure monitoring, fueled by the increasing cost of petroleum, tires, insurance, downtime and maintenance costs, are sparking an interest like never before.
In every market, from auto/light truck, off road, heavy trucks, tractor/trailers and industrial equipment, fleets are recognizing the importance of tire pressure - on fuel use, tread wear, tire life, time performance, safety and now environmentally.
A tire pressure monitoring system is quickly becoming viewed as a must-have tool, capable of working as a stand-alone product displaying in the vehicle, or integrating with telematics to provide management information at the office/cell phone.

Go Green!
The trucking industry already knows that under inflated tires are costly, but do you really understand all the ways it is costing you?
Tires running low on pressure require more fuel to overcome rolling resistance. In effect, your truck uses more fuel and releases additional CO2 emissions, causing unnecessary pollution.
In addition, they have decreased life due to added bending and flexing of tread, adding additional tire/maintenance costs and downtime.
Carbon Credits are quickly being recognized worldwide as an opportunity; lower Carbon emissions can only be an environmental help.

Types of Systems
There are several types of tire pressure monitoring systems. Some require breaking down the tire to install inside the tire(s), while others are end-user installed by merely replacing the valve stem cap with a Sensor, and then affixing a Monitor with Velcro in the dash area of the truck. And some offer additional features, such as variable high pressure alerts as well as low pressure alerts, and signal strength diagnostics. Tire pressure monitoring systems simplify the tire maintenance process, resulting in an overall reduction of operating costs and more effective tire pressure maintenance. It is much easier to check the tire pressure of all the tires from inside the vehicle, rather than having to go outside (sometimes in inclement weather) to check all of the tires. Inside duals are not fun either to check! Horse owners should check the tire pressure of all tires before each trip, including the spare tire—a simple task when one has a tire monitoring system. Having a TPMS is great peace of mind when one can check tires even while traveling down the road too!

Tire pressure monitoring systems give you the information you need to maintain properly inflated tires, which result in significant savings and safety. Note that overloading any tire is extremely dangerous, and can cause failure of any suspension component, not just tires. Even a correctly inflated tire can fail, if overloaded.

If you drive one of these...
everyone needs to monitor tire pressure

You need one of these...  “Reliable Under Pressure”
The Solution is PressurePro
PressurePro Tire Monitor

PressurePro is one of the leading aftermarket TPMS systems in the world. It is a wireless electronic tire pressure monitoring system designed to monitor and display tire pressures, and is capable of displaying current tire pressures on demand, whether moving or stationary.

PressurePro can monitor up to 34 wheel positions, and consists of two basic components:
(1) Sensors which screw onto the valve stems of your vehicle’s tires. The Sensors transmit a coded RF signal and can alert if pressure drops.

(2) A Monitor which displays each tire’s pressure and can send an audible and visual alert if pressures drop.

Benefits
• Cost effective
• Sensors mount externally on valve stems, replacing the valve stem caps
• Tire Sensors are reliable, durable and accurate
• Easily installed – No tools required
• PressurePro monitors up to 34 tire positions
• Reliable FM signal reception – No wiring required
• Continuous tire pressure Monitoring, even when vehicle is parked
• Monitors truck and towed vehicle tire pressures
• System is portable between vehicles
• No rebalancing required in most cases
• Audible and visual alerting
• View current tire pressures at any time with the touch of a button
