. Visitors to the Smithsonian can see "Rienzi", the black Morgan ridden by General Phil Sheridan on his famous 20 mile dash to rally his troops in the Civil War. Currier and Ives piints depict the Morgan horse in many scenes of life and many today see the same took and style when they hook their Morgan horse to the sleigh on frosty winter mornings, The Morgan horse continues to please owners in the show ring, the trail, on the ranch, and just about anywhere one can imagine a horse and rider or driver can go, They are beautiful, versatile, talented and full of endurance; they are a "people" horse enjoying the company of their owners. Take some time and go visit the Morgan horse. They are terrific!

Karen Vehlow has owned horses since her early childhood in Illinois and became acquainted with the Morgan horse when her mother purchased a Morgan mare in foal to the wonderful Moro Hills Medallion. The mare foaled a black chestnut colt that stayed with Karen until his death. This wonderful horse who did everything with enthusiasm made Karen a believer in the Morgan horse, Since 1978, the Vehlows have established a small band of elegant, beautiful, well-bred Morgan mares and have had the pleasure of having bred some National winners as well as some beloved family horses.
