Whips for Horse Training all need to be used with gentleness and fairness. Kind whips for training should be used to enforce “cues” with gentle firmness and NEVER with harshness or revenge. Horses are sensitive animals both physically and emotionally. They respond to leaders who care. Whips are often used as a safe extension of your arm to stay a safe distance when training. Whips should never leave a welt or laceration. Horses have a great understanding of what is FAIR. They also have definite ideas on what is appropriate discipline and can let you know, very quickly when you cross the line. Treat your horse as an animal you love. Discipline and train with patience and understanding. Use whips in a kind manner, only being as firm as necessary— but never let a horse hurt you.
