"Entry Gates" by Lucas Equine Equipment
From the small, homey barns, to unimaginable elegance, Lucas Equine has 42 years of success in manufacturing the highest quality horse equipment in the world!

About Lucas Equine Equipment

With a history rooted in horse stalls, Lucas Equine Equipment takes its name from Mr. Lucas who started a company in Cynthiana that built paddock gates for the local horse farms in nearby Lexington, Kentucky. Then, in 1981, Dana Looker purchased Mr. Lucas' business and, with a three-man welding shop, set a goal to provide the local market with quality, custom manufactured gates, doors and grills.

Architects and builders quickly picked up on Lucas Equine Equipment’s unique expertise in building horse stall components that met the demanding specifications of the local farm owners. With the support of these building professionals Lucas Equine Equipment's growth exploded to 31 full time employees, a 70,000 square foot facility and a reputation for excellence that is unparalleled manufacturing today.

Why Should I Choose Lucas For My Entry Gates?

Our team of experts collaborates closely with you to bring your vision to life, guiding you through every step of the design and manufacturing process. We proudly stand by our motto: “If you can sketch it on a napkin, we can build it.” Whether it's a simple design or a unique custom piece, we turn your ideas into reality with precision and craftsmanship.

Is It True That ALL Entry Gates Are Custom?
Yes, it's true! Every gate we create at Lucas Equine is custom-designed to meet the unique needs and preferences of each client. You can personalize every aspect of your gate, including size, color, material, and even the addition of logos or lettering, ensuring it perfectly matches your style and vision.

What If I Have A Unique Design In Mind?
We can make and design you dream up, remember, “If you can sketch it on a napkin, we can build it!” Lucas is nationally known for our ability bring your design to reality and we do it second to none! Just tell us your dream and we'll make that dream part of your horse property to enjoy for decades to come!

Are these Gates "Solar" or "Electric"?

At Lucas Equine Equipment, we specialize in designing and manufacturing custom gates and steel support posts. While we don't handle the installation of operators, we can recommend trusted partners who specialize in solar, electric, and automated gate systems. Since each gate requires a different level of durability, our team is here to help connect you with the right experts to ensure your gate operates flawlessly.

How Long Does A Gate Usually Take From Start To Finish?
Since every gate is unique, the timeline for completing a gate can vary based on its design complexity. Typically, we recommend allowing 3-4 weeks for the design phase and 10-12 weeks for manufacturing. This timeframe serves as a general estimate and helps us schedule your project efficiently. As you will be enjoying this stunning entry gate for decades to come, we'll make it worth the short wait!

What Do I Need To Consider When Making My Design?

  1. Power Supply: You’ll need to plan for underground electric lines to power the gate operator if you choose an automated system.
  2. Gate Support Structure: Decide whether you'd like to incorporate decorative rock columns on either side of the gate, or if you prefer a simpler setup with steel posts.
  3. Installation: If you’re outside of Kentucky, you will need a local installer to set the steel posts, install the gates, and handle any other on-site labor required for the full installation process.

Considering these factors will help ensure a smooth, efficient installation and a gate that fits your needs. We are happy to consult with you to guide you to the best decisions for your property and budget
