Mud Control Grid by Hahn Plastics
Our Mud Control Grid by Hahn Plastics requires NO ground prep- machinery, or hard labor. Throw it down, step on it and attach it to the next one. So strong you can drive a tractor or truck over it!

HAHN Plastics Works Worldwide!

Over the past 30 years, the HAHN Group has developed an international recycling company with locations in America, Canada, Germany, England, France, Italy, and Spain. With over 500 employees worldwide, HAHN is the leading producer of recycled products made from single-use plastic packaging waste and is continuously investing in research and development to make new innovative product solutions. Our MUD CONTROL GRIDS have become extremely popular due to their effectiveness, durability, ease-of-use, and affordable pricing!

Standing In 1 Inch Of Water For a Week Can Threaten The Life of Your Horse!

As unimaginable as it is, for a large animal to succumb to a hoof infection from just standing in watery mud for a week is not only true, it has happened before! There have also been cases of  those same, otherwise healthy horses, turning septic and dying from that same hoof infection. Horses laying in mud can develop “Mud Fever” or “Scratches” on their fetlocks and legs, extremely hard to get rid of, not to mention other skin infections.

What Is The Solution?

Get them out of the mud! Our MUD CONTROL GRIDS are extremely tough. They stand up to the deepest mud, are easy to install, and can withstand the weight of humans, horses, cars, tractors, and even firetrucks! Mud is not your horse’s friend. It is unsightly, can be slippery, and is bad for their hooves and coat. Our MUD CONTROL GRID is an easy and permanent solution!

Is it True That No Excavation Or Ground Prep Is Needed?

YES! More often than not, NO PREP IS NEEDED! That is the BIGGEST Advantage! You don’t need to wait for the mud to dry, then level it off, then dig down 4-6 inches to install a grid— you just throw the MUD CONTROL GRID down on the mud and slot the next one into place. So easy, so effective and even a teenager can do it! Our MUD CONTROL GRID is heavy duty, effective and anyone can install it easily!!

Why Don't These Grids Sink Into The Mud?

We get that question all the time. Even in the DEEPEST MUD— our grids are effective! The secret is both in the materials we use and the design. Our grids work just like snowshoes. They distribute weight across a wider area so that feet and hooves don’t sink. MUD CONTROL GRIDS create a giant snowshoe effect that’s strong enough for vehicles. For best results, we suggest staggering the grids (offset them like bricks). This creates a stronger connection between the rows.

What Size Are The Grids?

Each grid is 19.5x19.5”, making them easily manageable for almost anyone. Each grid weighs just under 15 lbs, no thin, flimsy plastic here. This powerful grid can hold up to 5.6 tons per square foot — so plenty of strength to hold up to the point load of a horse’s hoof, or to cars/trucks and tractors.

What If I Have Miniature Horses or Dogs?

The MUD CONTROL GRID is suitable for a variety of animals including sheep, goats, miniature horses, and ponies. Mud control Grids were designed with larger animals in mind (horses and cattle) but we’ve seen them used with dogs, chickens, and pigs too!

Is It Best To Put a Thin Layer of Sand Over The MUD GRID After Installation?

Yes, and it’s so easy to do! Just brush a thin layer of Sand over MUD CONTROL GRID once installed for more traction than the grids alone. It doesn’t have to be sand and shouldn’t be in feeding areas (no on wants to risk colic). The surface does need to be picked to clear manure or shovelled to clean up spilled feed, straw, or hay but shovels are no problem for our grids. You can use a tractor to clear them off as well!

  • Always use a topping layer (e.g. sand or grit) when using Mud Control Grids for animals.
  • For feeding areas, use woodchip, wood pellet bedding, other bedding types (used is fine) or holey rubber grass mats.
  • Use washed fine/soft sand or quarried sharp sand – not recycled sand. Other materials can also be used.
  • We recommend approximately one bulk bag per pallet of Mud Control Grids. Please check with your sand supplier that the sand is suitable for animals.

What Is The MUD GRID Made of And is There a Warranty?

Made of hanit, our exclusive, non-polluting recycled plastic material. This product comes with our 20-year warranty. You should always cover the exposed tabs on the outer edges to avoid damage from movement over the leading edge, this can be done with soil, sand, or a similar medium (broken tabs are not covered by the warranty).
