HAYTIME™ Automatic Horse Feeder
HAYTIME™ Automatic Horse Feeder by Jigs and co. was designed by a veterinarian who loved her horse and understands that horses need frequent feedings!
EVERY Horse Need Frequent Small Feedings!
This isn’t opinion— this is a proven fact! In their natural environment, horses are grazing animals that feed on small amounts of forage throughout the day. This grazing behavior satisfies their physiological and psychological needs. Horses have evolved to consume small, frequent meals, allowing for a steady supply of nutrients and continual saliva production to aid the digestive process. Replicating this natural behavior as closely as possible is essential for maintaining their well-being. While the specific needs of horses can vary based on factors such as age, breed, and activity level, maintaining a regular feeding routine is essential. Failure to provide small frequent meals can lead to physiological stress, resulting in behavioral changes.
Do You Have A Horse That Has:
* Ulcers or Digestive Issues
* Is Colic Prone
* Is Underweight
* Behavior Problems such as “Weaving” or “Anxiety”
* Insulin Resistant
* Wood Chewer
* Cribber
Don’t feel alone! Horses were designed to eat several small meals a day and humans have a hard time meeting their work, children, and barn chores schedules… HAYTIME™ can get you TWO reliable feedings every day— just load it and set the timer!
How Did HAYTIME Come To Be?
It all started with a DVM named Amanda Getto who had a deep love for her horse Jigs. Amanda owned and rode Jigs competitively. Her love for Jigs, and all horses, pushed her to become a competitive dressage rider, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and a practicing veterinarian. When Jigs developed equine gastric ulcer syndrome, Amanda wanted a natural, long-term solution. She knew from her training that horses are foraging animals, with a natural eating cycle every 3 & 1/2 hours. But stabled horses, like Jigs, often aren't fed at night, and that can cause not only gastric ulcers but other health and behavioral issues. Amanda looked for a solution to drop a flake of hay at regular intervals, but found none that worked well for this specific problem. And that led her to create the Haytime™ by Jigs & Co., an independent woman-owned business with a mission to help horses feed the way nature intended.
What Is HAYTIME™ ?
Haytime™ is an Automatic Hay Feeder. It's easy to use. You choose the feeding schedule by setting Haytime's timer (24 hour timer.) Then, load a flake of hay in each of the two holding bins, and at the times you set, a door on the bottom of Haytime releases a flake of hay. Each bin has its own door and timing, giving you two feedings. You can even schedule the doors to open twice a day to allow for up to four feedings.
HAYTIME™ has:
- Two bins that each hold a flake of hay
- Bottom doors open to release the hay
- Automatic and adjustable timed release
- Durable and safe
- Battery operated
- Easy to install, easy to run
- Patent Pending
- Height: 25 inches/63.5 Centimeters
- Width: 17.5in/44.45 Centimeters
- Depth: 19.5in/49.53 Centimeters
- Weight: 27.5 pounds (empty)
- Capacity: 2 flakes of dry hay
- Power: Six AA batteries
- Mounting: Four 1 x 1/4 inch screws with washers (included)
Is HAYTIME™ Durably and Safely Made?
YES and by a veterinarian that owns horses! HAYTIME™ is one tough feeder. Made from the same plastics commonly used in stables, it can withstand abuse. It's designed with soft rounded edges, and plastic that flexes. Unlike feeders made of sheet metal, this is safe and fits in a stall. Though designed for inside use, it is weather-resistant.
How Does It Operate? Do I Need Electricity?
HAYTIME™ runs on AA batteries. There are no large industrial batteries or electrical outlets, reducing the risk of electrical shocks and fire. And no need for expensive electricians or replacement batteries. It's also easy to install - just two screws and it hangs on a wall. Unlike some feeders, Haytime requires no electrical outlets or stall modifications. It uses 6 AA Batteries, and we recommend these be changed out every 6 months.
Can HAYTIME™ Help My Horse With Behavioral or Medical Problems?
Eating regular feedings and small additional meals can help every horse. Their body was designed to take in small meals continuously. Unlike humans that produce acid when they are hungry or start a meal, horses produce acid all day long. Eating additional hay can help absorb acid, soothe digestive systems, calm a nervous mind, settle horses that are bored in their stalls, and even stablize insulin levels in metabolic horses. Nothing makes horses happier than eating— HAYTIME™ helps support both physical and mental heath for all breeds at all stages of life!
What If My Horse Is Already At A Boarding Stable?
This is a great question and we have a good answer! While it is true that a FEW stables feed breakfast, lunch and dinner, most stables only feed twice a day— and most do NOT feed after 5pm or before 7am. That leaves 14 hours for your horse go without food. 14 hours to produce acid, bad behaviors. If you were to schedule a HAYTIME™ feeding at 9pm and 4am, (most horses are up by 4am) then it will make a world of difference to stablize insulin, acids and helping soothe anxiety behaviors like weaving etc. Haytime is also perfect for night feedings while you sleep or when you are away from your horse for an extended time during the day.
How Much Does HAYTIME™ Cost?
The real question… is ‘How much can HAYTIME™ SAVE? “ because so many poor behaviors and health problems seem to melt away with regular and proper use of Haytime! While other automatic feeders can cost thousands, HAYTIME™ is only $995 (plus applicable tax) and a flat rate of $75 for shipping-- making it one of the most AFFORDABLE automatic hay feeders in the industry! You will save this money in no time with healthier and happier horses!
What Do Horse Owners Say About HAYTIME™?
"I highly recommend Jigs & Co’.s Haytime feeder! It is so easy to set up, the customer service is phenomenal, and I have so much peace of mind knowing that my horse will never have to go all day without hay! Haytime is perfect for night feedings while you sleep or when you are away from your horse for an extended time during the day."

"I have a 25-year-old OTTB who is a hard keeper and ulcer prone but gets overwhelmed if he has too much hay, leading to waste. With the use of Haytime he gets smaller, spread-out feedings. In turn, I've noticed less hay waste, him consistently grazing, and as an added bonus, keeping weight on easier!"
Colleen G. Ohio
"I love the freedom Haytime has allowed me, I no longer need to rush home from evenings away to feed them, my Rocky Mountain Horse is less disruptive, and I’m most excited to avoid this feeding during the cold winter months. The product is durable and safe for my horses, and I highly recommend Haytime to anyone."
Debbie S. Washington
"Taking the best care of our equine friends has always been a top priority for me. When I had a horse diagnosed with ulcers I wanted to find a way to feed him hay during the wee hours of the night when no one was around. We are so happy with the product we got a second one for a horse that is bored overnight. We have noticed that these two horses don't waste their hay anymore(stalls are cleaner) and our horse that had ulcers is now ulcer free! The product is durable, easy to use and the horses are not scared of the hay dropping out of it. I highly recommend this product!"

"I have just ordered HAYTIME™ and can’t believe how easy, and how wonderfully it works! My insulin resistant Morgan Mare just loves it! I can already see that her 'hay belly' is shrinking-- noteably! She is getting to eat more than ever before-- and yet she is looking more fit. I have it programmed to give her an additional 1/2 flake feeding at 8 pm and then at 5am and she is happier and more fit looking than ever!”
