What Is The K-LineIrrigationPromise To It’s Clients?
IRRIGATION Made Easy-- Anywhere!

At K-Line Irrigation North America , we believe in providing our clients with the highest level of quality products and customer service. Every irrigation situation is unique so let us help you find the right solution for your needs.

VersatilityK-Line systems can be designed to fit any shape of the property and moved across any type of terrain as long as it can be traversed by an ATV. K-Line is designed to fit each unique field and any obstructions that may be present within it such as fences, buildings, and trees. No need to manipulate your field to make irrigation possible.

Furthermore, K-Line’s versatility permits multifunctional use by the arena owner. K-Line is a perfect solution for wetting down an arena prior to an event. Arena owners may choose to have separate K-Line systems for pasture and arena areas, or because of K-Line’s versatility and portability, utilize the same unit on both areas. Horse property owners can quicky disconnect the pasture unit and transport it to the arena area, water down the arena, avoiding pooling by applying exactly as much water as is needed, then easily transport the system back to the pasture when arena wetting is complete.

Management FlexibilityIf your field or green space has areas that require special attention, either more or less water and/or fertilizer, K-Line’s unique design permits that. With K-Line, every area of your field can be managed to suit its own specific needs.

Irrigating pasture in rotational grazing situations with traditional systems such as wheel lines or center pivots is challenging and even frustrating. K-Line was designed with the express goal of making irrigation and livestock management congruent and harmonious.

EfficiencyThe K-Line system permits slow, even infiltration of water into the soil; much like a soft rain. This means that the soil profile gets watered deep enough to permit robust plant root development - improving plant vigor, production, and drought tolerance.

Water scarcity is now a norm and responsible management of it is vitally important. The K-Line system ensures you apply only as much water when and where needed; no excess runoff and no water applied to areas where it isn't beneficial.

What is K-Line Irrigation?
K-Line Irrigation North America is the American retail team and eCommerce retailer of the K-LINE® Irrigation system and its components. The K-LINE system was created about twenty years ago on the south island of New Zealand by dairy farmer John Kirk together with RX Plastics in Ashburton, and it remains the most popular irrigation system in New Zealand today. The North American team handles your purchase and answers your questions to get the right system shipped to you.
How does the K-Line system work for irrigating horse pasture?
K-Line uses self-actuating sprinklers mounted on pods that are connected by flexible tubing, with no moving parts other than the sprinklers themselves. It delivers a slow, even infiltration of water into the soil, much like a soft rain, so moisture reaches deep enough to support robust root development and improve plant vigor, production, and drought tolerance. You apply only as much water as is needed where it is needed, avoiding excess runoff.
How do you move a K-Line system around the property?
The tubing is strong yet pliable enough that you can move multiple sprinklers at once by towing them with an ATV; smaller systems can be moved by hand or even with a horse. Because the line tows across rough terrain and around obstacles, K-Line works around fences, buildings, trees, and waterways without needing to remove or alter them. It can be designed to fit odd-shaped fields rather than forcing you to reshape your field for irrigation.
Can I use K-Line to water down my riding arena too?
Yes. K-Line is a practical solution for wetting down an arena before an event, and its portability lets you use one unit for both pasture and arena. You can quickly disconnect the pasture unit, move it to the arena, apply exactly as much water as is needed to avoid pooling, then move it back to the pasture afterward. Some owners keep separate K-Line systems for pasture and arena areas instead.
Is it safe to leave horses in the pasture while K-Line is running?
Yes. The system is designed to be compatible with horses, cattle, or whatever livestock you keep. K-Line offers "stock guards" that fit over the top of the pods so hoof action will not break sprinklers or fittings, and the guards do not interfere with water application. Stock guards are an add-on item, so add them to your order separately or ask the staff about them.
How long does a K-Line irrigation system last, and how much maintenance does it need?
Under normal use, the tubing and pods are expected to last at least ten years, and there are many systems in the U.S. and abroad that are 20+ years old with little to no maintenance. Upkeep is minimal: draining at season's end, occasionally unplugging a clogged sprinkler nozzle, and splicing the rare break if a line gets kinked repeatedly. The system is easy to operate and nearly anyone can repair it on the rare occasion it is needed.
How many acres can a K-Line "Farm Package" irrigate?
As a general rule of thumb, a Farm Package covers from less than one acre up to about eleven acres. For properties with more than three acres requiring consistent irrigation, it may make sense to combine two Farm Packs to adequately serve the area. As long as there is sufficient water supply and the property can be accessed by an ATV, it can be irrigated with K-Line.
How do I find the right K-Line system for my horse property?
Because every irrigation situation is unique, the K-Line North America team helps you match the right size and type of equipment to your acreage and water supply. Lush, well-watered pasture helps offset hay and feed costs, so a properly used system can pay for itself over time. Visit k-linena.com to explore the system and connect with their staff about your property.
