At Valley View Ranch, we take 60 girls, ages 8 through 17, with the theme of letting a young lady gain as much knowledge about horses as her curiosity demands. Each girl gets her own horse, according to her ability. She learns the responsibility of taking care of that horse. This includes daily riding, brushing, saddling, and cooling out after trails or classes. Our instructors are happy to work with girls who bring their own horses from home, but we have 75 to choose from.
The ranch consists of 600 acres of mountain countryside, trails and pastures. As soon as possible we like for each Rancher to enjoy the trails along the brow. You become a better rider through "time in the saddle", and practice on trails is a great experience.
Our instructors are qualified through the international standards of the Certified Horsemanship Association. We follow the CHA guidelines for safety. Goals are set at all levels, giving each child an opportunity for advancement from beginner through advanced levels in both English and Western riding. The English program includes beginners learning to post, to advanced jumping and cross-country. Stock Seat Equitation, trails and Gymkhana games are taught in Western Riding.
Besides riding, we also have a complete activities program including swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, archery, hiking, camp crafts, tumbling, team sports, overnights and much more. Classes are taught by qualified, college-aged counselors or Staff personnel.
Since we have a small enrollment, each camper can plan her program according to her own interest. She can spend two to five hours per day with horses, or plan a varied program combining other activities.
We offer a happy and valuable experience to all of our ranchers. Please let me hear from you soon if you would like your daughter to join our busy summer program. I will be delighted to answer any questions you might have at 706-862-2231, Fax 706-862-6190, or www.valleyviewranch.com.

Questions readers commonly ask:
What ages does Valley View Ranch accept?
Per Valley View Ranch: 60 girls aged 8 through 17 each session. The age range is designed to allow younger campers to be inspired by older girls' progress while older campers develop leadership through mentoring younger ones. Both ends of the age spectrum benefit from the mixed-age experience.
Do campers need their own horses?
Per Valley View Ranch: no — the ranch has 75 horses to choose from. Each girl is matched with a horse appropriate to her ability and physical size. Bringing your own horse is welcome — instructors are happy to work with bring-your-own-horse campers — but it's optional. Camp horses are well-trained for diverse rider skill levels.
What does the daily camp routine include?
Per Valley View Ranch: daily riding, brushing, saddling, cooling out after trails or classes. Each camper takes responsibility for caring for her assigned horse — not just riding. The full horsemanship experience includes barn chores and care work. This builds genuine horsemanship skill and the responsibility that develops along with it.
How important is trail riding in the camp program?
Per Valley View Ranch: essential — 600 acres of mountain countryside, trails, and pastures. As soon as possible, each Rancher (camper) is on the trails along the brow. The camp's philosophy is that riders develop through 'time in the saddle' on varied terrain. Trails build confidence, balance, and horse-handling skill that arena work alone can't develop.
What makes Valley View Ranch different from generalized summer camps?
Per Valley View Ranch: dedicated horse-focused program with experienced instructors and substantial daily horse time. Generalized camps offer 1-2 hours of horse activity among many other activities. Valley View Ranch puts horsemanship at the center of every day. Girls who come passionate about horses leave deeply skilled; girls who come curious leave passionate.
