Lamar Community College
Learn to start colts, train horses and run an equine business, riding seven days a week!
Can you build a career on the business side of the horse industry?
The horse industry runs on more than riders and trainers. Training barns, breeding farms, veterinary clinics, sales companies, breed associations, boarding stables, event organizers and equine product companies all need people who understand both horses and business.
An equine business management program pairs horsemanship and horse care with business coursework, so graduates can manage a barn, coordinate sales, run a breeding program, sell horse products or support an equine practice. When you compare programs, look at how much time you spend with horses each week, whether you bring your own horse, what the facilities include, and whether an internship with a working equine business is part of the degree.
Also ask what jobs past graduates hold, whether the credits transfer toward a bachelor's degree, and what scholarships are available for students with a horse or rodeo background.
