Applying Synbiont™ Ag Wash is a critical, proactive step toward creating your own biosecurity protocol for cleaning your animals, stalls or trailers in helping prevent exposure to deadly diseases. With the recent headlines of EHV-1, this highly contagious disease can affect all breeds and ages via direct and indirect exposure, as well as through the air; most often, the virus can be reactivated during transit or strenuous exercise. Creating a protective, animal-safe barrier against strangles, staph, salmonella, e.coli and other diseases whether at home or on the road cannot be ignored. Can't I Just Use Bleach Or Hydrogen Peroxide And Get The Same Effect?

Nope-- not exactly. Until now, these toxic chemicals have been the only cleaning option for most animal owners. In most cases, these harmful sanitizers can NOT be applied directly to your animals; there are re-entry limitations and only work one time. Synbiont® cleans the host area where pathogens grow by emulsifying dirt and soil; and compromises the cell walls of the pathogen, virus, bacteria or fungi.

Is It True My Horse Doesn't Have To Leave The Stall While It Is Applied?
Correct. There are no re-entry limitations for humans or your horse. Not only can the horse be in the stall during application, there is no harm in the product getting into feeding and water troughs and is safe if licked.

What is Synbiont Ag Wash and what does it do?

Synbiont® Ag Wash is a food-grade-safe biosecurity wash designed to clean animals and any surface prone to host pathogens, viruses, bacteria, and fungus. Active ingredients are a patented, proprietary blend of alkyl sulfonate and alkyl sulfate — EPA-approved and FDA-certified anionic surfactants with high water solubility and high activity at low concentrations. The negatively-charged molecules emulsify dirt and soil while compromising the cell walls of pathogens, viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Where is Synbiont used in real biosecurity protocols?

How long does the protective effect last after spraying?

Per Synbiont, normal activity lasts 7–21 days. The applied surface remains active even after the product is no longer visible. To re-activate the coating after the initial dry, simply mist with a fine spray of water — the surface will slightly foam and continue working. This is what creates the protective barrier between cleanings.

How is Synbiont different from bleach or hydrogen peroxide?

Bleach and hydrogen peroxide cannot be applied directly to animals, have re-entry limitations, and only work once on contact. Synbiont can be applied directly to the horse, has no re-entry limit, leaves a surface-active coating that keeps working for 7–21 days, and is biodegradable with no odor. Per the company, the surfactant chemistry compromises the pathogen cell wall rather than just sanitizing the surface — that's a different mechanism than chlorine bleach.

What sizes does it come in, and how far does one gallon stretch?

Synbiont Ag Wash is sold in 1-gallon, 5-gallon, and 55-gallon containers. The dilution ratio is 1:50 — about 2.5 oz per gallon of water — so 1 gallon of concentrate makes 50 gallons of usable wash. Application via pump-up sprayers, hose-end sprayers, or pressure washers all work. There are no expiration limitations on either the concentrated or the diluted product.

Can I use it on my horse's coat for fungal issues?

Yes — Synbiont is used like a shampoo for skin and coat. Per the company, washing with Synbiont® helps reduce fungal issues such as scratches, rain rot, cinch fungus, and improves wound cleanliness while enhancing recovery time.
