Tim Anderson Horse Training develops horses beyond the basic stage and teaches the riders on their backs how to know what to do next. Based in Vancleave, Mississippi, Tim takes performance horses in for reining, reined cow horse, and versatility ranch horse training, gives lessons from basic horsemanship through the show pen, and coaches riders one-on-one. If you have a horse that needs more than a good start — or you are a rider who keeps running out of answers when something goes sideways — this is the program built for you.

What Does Tim Anderson Offer?

Tim’s program covers two sides of the same partnership: training the horse and training the rider. On the horse side, the focus is on building willingness, confidence, body control, and consistency that holds up under real use and real performance. On the rider side, Tim coaches the skill that systems leave out — decision-making in the moment.

He also gives private lessons across every level, judges and coaches, and offers ranch, reining, and working cow horse clinics that can be scheduled privately or hosted publicly. For availability, riders reach out to Tim directly.

Tim Anderson has been training, coaching, and showing professionally for more than three decades out of Vancleave, Mississippi. He is a past president of the MS Reining Horse Association and the Gulf Coast Foundation Quarter Horse Association.

He has won multiple World, Reserve World, and Top 10 titles with the NRHA, AQHA, Nwfqha, APHA, AHA, and USEF, and has shown at the Nrbc, the NRHA North American Finals, and the Nrcha Finals. As he puts it, “I take a comprehensive approach to equine development, ensuring that every horse in my care undergoes a true transformation, emerging more confident, capable, and physically prepared for its job.”

How Does Tim Train the Horse?

“Most horses don’t fail because they weren’t well started,” Tim says. “They fail because nobody carried them far enough.” His program is built for horses that need more than basic training — especially those dealing with resistance, a poor attitude, or a lack of consistency.

Rather than drilling movements, Tim changes how the horse thinks and responds. He sees the way a horse performs as a direct reflection of the decisions being made during training, so every session is aimed at building a willing, confident, controllable partner that performs the same way at home and at a show.

Why Does Decision-Making Matter for the Rider?

“Most riders are looking for a better system. What they actually need is better decision-making,” Tim explains. When something doesn’t go as planned, most systems don’t have an answer — and that is exactly where decision-making takes over.

The outcome with a horse is shaped by what you notice, what you allow, and what you change in the moment. Two people can ride the same horse and get completely different results; the difference isn’t the horse. Tim helps riders see more clearly, understand what is happening, and know what to do next so progress keeps coming.

Who Is It For?

This program fits the horse owner who wants a true performance partner and the rider who wants to stop guessing. Whether you compete in reining, reined cow horse, or ranch versatility — or simply want a confident, consistent horse and the horsemanship to keep it that way — Tim’s decades in the show pen and the round pen are aimed squarely at carrying you and your horse further than a basic start ever could.
