How Is The Soap At Blackberry Creek Different From Competitors?

Unlike commercial soaps, natural soap contains no preservatives. Therefore natural soap does have a shelf life. Blackberry Creek tells me their soap has a shelf life of about one year. It is always best to store natural soap in a cool, dry place until you're ready to use it. A family soap kitchen born from a Christmas gift

Blackberry Creek Soaps began in 1995, when Nancy Young and her daughter mixed a single batch of handmade soap to give as Christmas gifts. That first bar was an Oat 'n Honey, and the calls that followed, asking where to buy more, turned a holiday project into a family business. Nancy and her husband Jim built the company together, and after Nancy's passing, longtime product-maker Kathy Sheeley purchased the business from Jim to carry the tradition forward.

Every bar still hand-stirred for at least 20 minutes

These soaps are handmade from scratch and hand-stirred the old-fashioned way, with each batch needing to be stirred for at least 20 minutes before it sets. Nancy's mother loved working the stirring step, Jim crafted the wooden molds that give each bar its uniform shape, and his father cut and folded the wrappers well into his 90s. When the operation outgrew the kitchen, the family moved 80 miles to a cabin in the woods and finished the lower level into a dedicated soap factory.
