Dressage Arena Equipment

Dressage arena equipment covers everything needed to school and show on a proper court: the low perimeter rail, letter markers, footing, and the portable arena kits that let riders set up a regulation-size space at home. A small dressage arena measures 20 x 40 meters and the standard arena is 20 x 60 meters — the size required for First Level and above at recognized shows — so most riders plan their setup around one of those two footprints.

At competitions the arena is enclosed by a low fence roughly 12 inches high with the entrance at A, and the letters sit just outside the rail. At home, riders recreate that layout with portable rail sections, boundary poles on risers, or simple board fencing, then add letter markers so every movement happens where the test asks for it. A level surface with consistent footing matters as much as the boundary itself.

When comparing dressage arena equipment, decide whether you need a full competition-style kit or a movable boundary you can lift for mowing, dragging, and footing maintenance. Lightweight modular systems make it practical to square up a true 20 x 60 court in a field or paddock — and take it down just as quickly for clinics, shows, or winter.
