What Sets Heritage Apart from Competitors?
Just about Everything! After more than 25 years of building equine facilities and helping stall component companies design their products, it only seemed natural to develop and offer our own product line. Mark Hopkins, co-owner, is our in-house engineer and was a barn builder for more than 25 years. We focus on quality-- and safety-- first. Heritage Equine’s stall components are made from a galvanized substrate so you won’t have a problem with rusting. Just to make sure you heard— we said NO Rust— Ever! We stand behind our product by offering a
5-year structural warranty; something that unheard of in our industry.
So, Just What Is a “Barn Home” ?
Very simply a barn home is a barn that has living quarters attached to it; a Barn with a Home. It can be as simple or as elegant as your imagination. We have built many gorgeous Barn Homes over the years and the results are often breathtaking and always an eye catcher for your guests.
What Advantage Does It Offer To Have Your Barn Attached To Your Home?
Too cold, windy or rainy to step out and walk to the barn? Worried about a sick horse and want to keep an eye on him or her? Want the ease and convenience of having your horses secured with you under one roof? With Barn Homes your living area and barn area are fully connected. You don’t have to go “out” and face the elements to get to your horse; you go down stairs, open up a door, and walk right over to the stalls! Once you’ve tried it, you wouldn’t want it any other way!
What Styles Are Available?
One of our favorites is a "courtyard type" barn home where the home is in the center, the barn on one side and garage on the other – all connected with a breezeway on either side of the home. You can also put the living quarters in the middle with stalls on either side for a courtyard type build. The living quarters could be in front of the barn and have the stalls come off of the back or your home could be above the stalls. It all comes down to what works best for you. We have several styles, including the very popular, ‘home on top’ with a stunning barn below.
Will Heritage Help Me Find A Builder and Help With Design?
Absolutely. That’s what we do. We have builders throughout the USA that are happy to help. We can be as helpful as you need us to be.
What About The Stalls That Go In The Barn? Can Heritage Equine Equipment Help?
YES WE CAN! We Excel at stalls— and some of our designs are one of a kind! While everyone else is selling the ‘same ole’ stall designs, leave it to HERITAGE to take stall design ‘over the top’. You will love the ooohs and aaahs that come from every one who enters your barn. One of our most attention getting designs is our “Smiley Face", yoke top stall door— which you will find in our Legacy Series with several bottom wood fill options – solid horizontal or vertical wood fill, horizontal ‘ vertical / horizontal wood fill or grill or mesh with name plate and shavings guard. In addition, we just designed a special mini stall door option for our hinged doors with a removable yoke that will be on display for the first time at 2019 Quarter Horse Congress!
How Do I Get Started?
Check with your local building department first to make sure it’s legal to have a ‘Barn Home"— and then find out what is required. That way, you know and can let us know the particulars of your municipality requirements. Then, contact Mark or MaryBeth and ask them to send you photos of other Barn Homes they may have done in the past— or, present them with plans that you may like or have in mind. This is a great way to start. Mark and MaryBeth are super excited to talk to you— call today! Heritage Equine Equipment custom Dutch door installed on a finished horse barn stall

Their slogan captures their approach: Horse People Designing For Horse People.
Where is Heritage Equine Equipment located?
The shop is based in rural Box Springs, Georgia, at 74 Quail Lane, Box Springs, GA 31801. Although it operates from one Georgia location, Heritage manufactures custom equipment that ships nationwide and across the continent.
Does Heritage Equine Equipment ship outside the United States?
Yes. Heritage ships its custom-built equine equipment throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Because components are fabricated to order and crated for transport, customers across North America can outfit a barn with Heritage stalls and doors.
What stall models does Heritage Equine Equipment offer?
Heritage builds five primary stall lines: Frontier, Legacy, Windsor, Kensington, and Cambridge. Each is engineered for post-frame buildings or concrete walls and can be customized with different bar spacing, wood-fill patterns, grilles, and powder-coat colors. The Windsor series adds more decorative, premium touches such as greasable European hinges and nameplate capability.
What are Heritage stalls made of?
Stall fronts, doors, partitions, and tracks are fabricated from 14-gauge galvanized steel. Fronts and partitions use a 1½" square tube frame with 1" round bars set 3" on center, while doors are built from 2" square tubing with the same 1" round bars. The standard U-channel frame accepts kiln-dried construction lumber for the wood fill.
What size lumber do Heritage components use?
Heritage's standard U-channel framing accepts 2" x 6" or 2" x 8" kiln-dried construction lumber. This lets the customer or installer source local wood and finish the fill to match the barn, while the galvanized steel provides the structural strength and horse-safe framework.
How are the Dutch doors built?
Heritage Dutch doors are manufactured from 14-gauge 2" square galvanized steel. The welded U-channel accepts standard 2" x 6" or 2" x 8" kiln-dried lumber, and 14-gauge galvanized cross bucks are welded to the door fronts. The frame uses a 2" x 3" angle jamb with a 1" square tubing stop.
What size are the Dutch doors?
The standard Dutch door measures 47½" wide by 87½" high. A taller 47½" wide by 95½" high option is available for an additional charge, and custom sizes can be ordered to fit non-standard openings.
How do the Dutch doors keep horses from escaping?
The bottom Dutch door uses a trailer-lock locking mechanism specifically designed to prevent horses from letting themselves out. Standard doors come with non-locking handles and hold-back latches, while locking handles, inside handles, and magnets are available as upgrades at additional cost.
Can I choose the color of my stalls and doors?
Yes. A choice of powder-coating colors is included, and you can apply your color selection across the doors, fronts, partitions, tracks, stops, guides, and locking mechanisms. Powder coating also protects the galvanized steel and gives the finished barn a consistent, durable look.
What makes the Windsor series different from the other stalls?
The Windsor series is the more decorative, premium line. It features greasable European hinges welded to the door and jamb, optional grilled centers, nameplate capability, shavings guards, mesh fill, and the option of 4" square powder-coated steel posts with caps. Customers can choose horizontal, vertical, or combined wood-fill patterns.
What is the ComfortStall flooring system Heritage offers?
Heritage integrates the Haygain ComfortStall sealed orthopedic flooring system, a cushioned stall-floor solution designed to support joints and reduce bedding use. It pairs naturally with Heritage's stall builds so a customer can outfit both the framework and the flooring through one source.
Does Heritage offer custom design services?
Yes. Heritage provides in-house CAD design so customers can plan custom layouts before fabrication. Mark Hopkins's decades of facility-design experience mean the team can adapt stalls, doors, and hardware to fit unusual barn footprints, post-frame buildings, or concrete-wall construction.
What warranty comes with Heritage Equine Equipment products?
Heritage backs its construction with a 5-year structural warranty, which the company describes as unmatched in our industry. The combination of 14-gauge galvanized steel and powder coating is built to stand up to the demands of daily barn use.
Are Heritage products made in the USA?
Yes. The company states that all of our components are designed and hand crafted in the USA. Fabrication happens at the Box Springs, Georgia shop, and products are crated there for shipment across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
What other barn hardware besides stalls does Heritage make?
In addition to stalls, Heritage builds Dutch doors, barn end doors, windows, entrance gates, stall fronts, partitions, and sliding-door tracks with trolleys. The Frontier track system accommodates both top-mount and face-mount applications and uses trolleys with self-lubricating urethane wheels.
