What does SilverVet make for horses?
SilverVet makes nano-silver-based wound and skin care products for horses, dogs, and other animals. The two core products are Power Silver Wash and Power Silver Gel, built on the company's proprietary Triple Defense Technology™. Both are natural, non-toxic, chemical-free, and carry no known contraindications.
How is nano silver different from colloidal or chelated silver?
SilverVet uses nano silver, where each silver molecule is reduced to nanoparticle size (one billionth of a meter) to greatly increase its surface area and effectiveness. According to SilverVet, this makes it far more potent and faster-acting than colloidal or chelated silver while requiring a much smaller amount of silver. It is also described as safer, being eliminated from the body within 24 hours of ingestion.
Should I use the Power Silver Wash and Power Silver Gel together or separately?
They can be used alone or together. SilverVet recommends using them together as a "wound care system" for a synergistic effect: spray the Power Silver Wash to clean off debris, then apply the Power Silver Gel for prolonged contact with the wound. The gel's longer contact time helps deliver the most effective results.
What skin conditions and wounds can these products help with?
SilverVet says the Power Silver Wash and Power Silver Gel can help with almost anything affecting the skin, including fungal infections, wounds, bites, scratches, rainrot, mud fever, MRSA, and general skin irritations. The products are also anti-inflammatory and work with most skin rashes and irritations. For puncture wounds where there is any doubt about severity, SilverVet advises checking with your veterinarian.
How often should I use the wash or apply the gel?
Because both products are natural and completely safe, SilverVet says you can technically use them as often as you want. The company recommends twice to three times a day, which provides sufficient care without wasting product. The gel can be applied daily as needed for your individual situation.
Does the Power Silver Gel really help keep flies away?
Yes. SilverVet reports that flies find the gel distasteful and avoid it. They recommend applying it around the eyes, ears, and nose to help reduce pesky flies, and note it can prevent flies from laying larvae on open wounds, which discourages myiasis and the serious illness it can cause if left unmanaged.
How much do the products cost and is there a combo deal?
The Power Silver Wash is $35.99 and the Power Silver Gel is $24.99. By popular request, SilverVet also offers a Power Package combo of both the wash and the gel for only $55, so you can have both wound and skin care products on hand for less than $60.
