Who Is Kate, Founder of WARMEEZE?
My name is Kate Wolfe, and thanks to my best friend, my husband, my life long dream of having my own horse came true. I have ridden horses off and on since I was a young girl, but it was not until I was 50 years old that I actually got my own horse. The last three years have been ones of constant learning and lots of injuries, but never giving up even though my family thought I should. I kept reading and working and learning and I finally found the right horse, Sophie. She was a beautiful Dun mare Quarter Horse and though our time together was short she taught me so much and gave me back my confidence. She is now my Angel Sophie, always with me and she was my inspiration for the WARMEEZE. The key to anything in life is to not give up - If you can dream it, you can do it!

How Did WARMEEZE Come To Be?

WARMEEZEknee warmers were born on a cold winter night while Kate sat on the cold barn floor holding heat packs to her mare, Sophie's, legs. She had arthritis in her front knee joints and the cold bothered her, Kate's hands are always cold so she put heat packs in her gloves and it was just on a whim one night while feeding her she decided to put the heat packs to her knees to see if she would tolerate them, she did and seemed to like the heat. So every night when Kate would feed she would sit on the barn floor and hold the heat packs to her knees. Kate decided there has to be a better way for both of them and that is how the WARMEEZE came to be.

Kate has been a nurse for 35 years and somethings just do not differ whether it is human or animal, heat feels good to sore joints. The WARMEEZE was designed for comfort not healing, and she has seen her horse Sophie stand and close her eyes after she has her WARMEEZE on. The heat helps support blood flow to the area, helps to loosen the stiff joints and the muscles surrounding the joint. The heat makes it feel better to move and in the end that is what it is all about, making your horse feel good.

What Is WARMEEZE?

A WARMEEZE is a soft fleece wrap with inner pockets that hold disposable heat packs. The wraps can be used on knees and hocks to help with the stiffness and soreness that comes with arthritis. The colors for the WARMEEZE are Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe.

What Sizes Are Offered For WARMEEZE?

There are three sizes of the WARMEEZE - Small - will fit ponies, mini donkey's, the hocks on horses, these will use the hand warmer size heat pack. Regular - will fit an average horse - ie Quarter Horse, Standard Bred, Morgan, etc - these can use the hand warmer size and the body warmer size heat packs. Large - will fit your draft type horses, these can also use the hand warmer or body warmer size of heat packs. Any question about what size can be solved by calling and asking for Kate, I will be glad to answer any questions.

Do You Offer WARMEEZE Horse Blankets?

Yes! We are excited to announce that we are making a WARMEEZE Blanket, this will be out by February 2012. The blanket will be offered, at least initially, in one color, Black and White Zebra. The WARMEEZE Blanket is designed for a couple of purposes. It can be used under a blanket to help provide warmth to a cold horse, there will be pockets not only along the spine but at the hips one each side by the ribs and on the withers. There will be lots of choices for where to apply the warmth. This blanket can also be used to loosen up the spine and the muscles along the spine to help keep your horse limber. For those who do manipulations on horses this would be a great tool. Things move back into place easier when everything is loosened up.

What makes WARMEEZE different from a standard leg wrap?

A WARMEEZE is not a compression boot or a medicated poultice wrap — it is a soft fleece sleeve built around inner pockets that hold ordinary disposable heat packs, turning gentle, hours-long warmth into a therapy you can apply right in the stall. The design was deliberately kept simple: there is no electricity, no cords, no charging, and no plug to trip over a restless horse. Kate Wolfe designed it for comfort rather than cure, after watching her own mare Sophie stand and close her eyes the moment the warmth settled into her stiff front knees.

How does the warmth actually help a stiff, arthritic joint?
Heat is one of the oldest and most forgiving tools for sore joints, and the principle does not change much between people and horses. As Kate — a registered nurse of 35 years — explains it, the warmth from the heat packs helps support blood flow to the area, helps loosen the stiff joint itself, and relaxes the muscles surrounding it. The result is that movement simply feels better, which is the whole point: a horse that is comfortable enough to move freely is a happier, sounder horse through a long, cold winter.

Which colors and patterns can you choose?

WARMEEZE wraps are offered in four eye-catching prints so the therapeutic side never has to look clinical: Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe. The same fleece-and-pocket construction sits behind every pattern, so the choice is purely about personality — a barn aisle of WARMEEZE is as fun to look at as it is functional.

What sizes does WARMEEZE come in, and how do you pick?
There are three sizes. Small fits ponies, mini donkeys, and the hocks on full-size horses, and uses the hand-warmer size heat pack. Regular fits an average horse — Quarter Horse, Standardbred, Morgan and similar — and accepts either the hand-warmer or the larger body-warmer heat packs. Large is cut for draft-type horses and likewise takes either heat-pack size. If you are unsure which to order, the right size can be confirmed in one phone call to — ask for Kate, who is glad to answer any question.

Where do you get the heat packs that go inside?

One of the practical strengths of WARMEEZE is that the consumable part is something you already know how to buy. The disposable heat packs that slip into the inner pockets can be found wherever hunting supplies are sold, as well as at most hardware stores — the same air-activated hand-warmer and body-warmer packets used by outdoorsmen all winter. That keeps refills cheap, local, and easy to stock up on before the cold sets in.

What is a WARMEEZE?
A WARMEEZE is a soft fleece wrap with inner pockets that hold disposable heat packs. It is designed to deliver soothing, hands-free warmth to a horse's knees and hocks, easing the stiffness and soreness that come with arthritis. It is a comfort product rather than a medical cure.
Who founded WARMEEZE?
WARMEEZE was created by Kate Wolfe (full name Kathlene Wolfe), a registered nurse of 35 years who did not get her first horse until she was 50. The product was inspired by her Dun Quarter Horse mare, Sophie, who had arthritis in her front knee joints. Kate calls Sophie her 'Angel Sophie' and the inspiration behind WARMEEZE.
How did WARMEEZE come to be?
It was born on a cold winter night while Kate sat on the barn floor holding heat packs to Sophie's arthritic knees. Because Kate's own hands run cold, she kept heat packs in her gloves, and on a whim she held them to Sophie's knees — the mare tolerated and seemed to enjoy the warmth. After feeding her that way night after night, Kate decided there had to be a better way for both of them, and the WARMEEZE was the result.
How does the heat help a horse's joints?
The warmth helps support blood flow to the area, helps loosen the stiff joint, and relaxes the muscles surrounding the joint. As Kate explains from her nursing background, heat feels good to sore joints whether the patient is human or animal. The goal is simply to make movement feel better and the horse feel good.
What sizes does WARMEEZE come in?
Three sizes. Small fits ponies, mini donkeys, and the hocks on horses; Regular fits an average horse such as a Quarter Horse, Standardbred, or Morgan; and Large fits draft-type horses. Small uses the hand-warmer size heat pack, while Regular and Large can use either the hand-warmer or body-warmer size.
How do I know which size to order?
If you are unsure, the simplest path is to call 814-935-8207 and ask for Kate. She will gladly answer any sizing question and help you match the wrap to your horse's build. Sizing is based on the type of animal — pony and mini, average horse, or draft.
What colors and patterns are available?
WARMEEZE wraps come in four patterns: Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe. All share the same fleece construction and inner heat-pack pockets, so the choice is purely about style.
Where do I buy the heat packs that go inside?
The disposable heat packs used in a WARMEEZE can be found wherever hunting supplies are sold, as well as at hardware stores. These are the common air-activated hand-warmer and body-warmer packets, which keeps refills inexpensive and easy to find locally.
Can WARMEEZE be used on hocks as well as knees?
Yes. The wraps are intended for both knees and hocks to help with arthritis-related stiffness and soreness. The Small size in particular is suited to fitting the hocks on full-size horses, and uses the hand-warmer size heat pack.
Is WARMEEZE a treatment or cure for arthritis?
No. Kate designed WARMEEZE for comfort, not healing. It does not cure arthritis; it uses gentle heat to ease stiffness and soreness so the horse is more comfortable and willing to move, especially in cold weather.
Does WARMEEZE require electricity or batteries?
No. WARMEEZE relies on ordinary disposable air-activated heat packs that slip into the wrap's inner pockets, so there are no cords, batteries, or chargers. That makes it safe and practical to use in any stall or barn aisle.
Does WARMEEZE make a horse blanket too?
Kate announced a WARMEEZE Blanket designed to be used under a regular blanket for warmth or to loosen the spine and back muscles, with pockets along the spine, at the hips by the ribs on each side, and at the withers. It was initially planned in one color, Black and White Zebra. To check current availability of the blanket, contact Kate directly at 814-935-8207 or [email protected].
Why would heat help a horse that does manipulation or bodywork?
Kate notes that the WARMEEZE Blanket can warm and loosen the muscles along the spine, and that things move back into place more easily when everything is loosened up. For practitioners who do manipulations on horses, applying warmth first can make the bodywork easier and more comfortable for the horse.
