Kingstar™

builds horse trailers that turn any trailhead into an instant base camp — so you can load up on a whim, drive to the high country, and have a full corral set up for your horse in about two minutes. At the flip of a switch the trailer's patented Power Corral Rails (PCR™) lift and lower the hay, supplies, and corral panels for you, and automatic watering trays keep your horse drinking from an on-board freshwater supply. If you have ever skipped an off-grid trip because hauling and wrestling corral panels, hay, and water was more hassle than it was worth, Kingstar™ is built for exactly that. It is made for trail riders and horse campers who want to go further, stay longer, and rest easy that their horse is contained, fed, and watered — reach out to The Kingstar Company to build yours.

What Is the Kingstar™ Horse Trailer?

Kingstar™ is a fully insulated, automated horse trailer that doubles as a self-contained overnight stable. Its signature feature is the patented Power Corral Rails (PCR™) system: on each side, at the flip of a switch, the rails lift and lower up to 250 lbs of hay and supplies per side and deploy a standard 12'x12' or 12'x15' corral with wheel guards — no more manhandling panels or stowing hay dangerously on the roof. Inside that corral your horse is free to move, roll, and turn with ease.

Off-grid water is handled too. Automatic watering trays in the mangers and corrals are supplied by 75 gallons of fresh water, so your horse can drink whenever it wants instead of waiting for you to haul a bucket. Patented “Saw Tooth” mangers square up to the horse for full chest contact and comfort, while doubling as storage sized for a Honda 2200 generator, a Camco grill, folding chairs, and gear. As Kingstar puts it, the trailer is “designed for ease and comfort of mind and body, both for Horse and Human to enjoy.”

Who Makes Kingstar™?

Kingstar™ is built by The Kingstar Company, founded in 2018 by brothers Marcus and Cal Niemela from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The idea was born after Marcus moved to Arizona, got involved in equestrian sports, and ran headlong into the pain points of traveling with a horse — the struggle of corralling horses at a remote campsite and the danger of stowing hay on top of a trailer. The brothers set out to reimagine the horse trailer rather than tweak it, and conceptualized folding corral sections and hay pods that raise and lower automatically from a stowed travel position to a fully deployed corral with the touch of a switch.

The Niemelas are serial builders — their earlier ventures include Boss Snowplow, Cuda Cleaning Systems, and Blizzard Corporation. Every Kingstar trailer is designed and manufactured in the “906,” Michigan's Upper Peninsula, at the company's Houghton facility. The brand's guiding line says it all: Live it. Ride it.

How Does the Power Corral Rails (PCR™) System Work?

The genius of Kingstar™ is that the heavy lifting is done by the trailer, not by you. During travel, the corral rails and hay pods are stowed flat and locked down. When you reach camp, you flip a switch and the patented Power Corral Rails (PCR™) hydraulically lift and lower — up to 250 lbs of hay and supplies per side — swinging the panels out and down into a full five-sided corral in roughly two minutes. Break-down is just as fast: flip the switch and everything folds back into transport position.

Because the system carries the hay low and deploys the corral mechanically, you avoid the two classic dangers of trail camping — wrestling steel panels by hand and climbing to stow hay on the roof. The result is the spontaneity the brand is named for: you can decide to go, and actually go, without a half-day of setup standing between you and the trail.

The Solution Section (FAQ)
What is the Kingstar™ horse trailer designed for?

It is built for off-grid horse camping and trail riding. Kingstar™ lets you haul your horse to remote, scenic country and set up a full corral with hay and automatic water in about two minutes, so spontaneous overnight trips become practical instead of a logistical chore.

Who makes the Kingstar™ horse trailer?

The Kingstar Company, founded in 2018 by brothers Marcus and Cal Niemela. Every trailer is designed and manufactured in Houghton, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula's “906” area code.

How do the Power Corral Rails (PCR™) work?

At the flip of a switch, the patented Power Corral Rails lift and lower up to 250 lbs of hay and supplies per side and deploy a standard 12'x12' or 12'x15' corral with wheel guards. The trailer does the heavy lifting, so there are no panels to wrestle and no hay to stow on the roof.

How does Kingstar™ keep my horse watered off-grid?

Automatic watering trays in the mangers and corrals are supplied by 75 gallons of fresh on-board water. Your horse can drink whenever it wants, instead of waiting for you to haul and offer a bucket.

How big are the corrals?

Standard corrals are 12'x12' or 12'x15' and come with wheel guards as standard equipment, giving your horse room to move, roll, and turn with ease while it is contained at camp.

What are the Saw Tooth mangers and positionable tack wall?

The patented “Saw Tooth” mangers square up to the horse for full chest contact and comfort, and double as storage sized for a Honda 2200 generator, a Camco grill, folding chairs, and supplies. The patented positionable rear tack wall sets in three positions — unobstructed loading and unloading, mid-transport support, and a “tack up” position for rider access.

What Kingstar™ horse trailer models are available, and what do they cost?

Kingstar offers a 2 Horse Bumper Pull with the PCR system and a 3 Horse Bumper Pull, in both bumper-pull and gooseneck configurations. As listed on kingstar.net, the 2 Horse Bumper Pull starts at $79,960 and the 3 Horse Bumper Pull at $89,960. Inventory changes, so confirm current models and pricing with the company.

Where is Kingstar™ located and how do I order?

The Kingstar Company is at 911 Evergreen Drive, Houghton, Michigan 49931. You can build a custom unit, request a quote, or check current inventory on kingstar.net, or call the company directly to spec out your trailer.
