Which Colors Help Repel Bugs More and Which Are“Cooler"?

You will be surprised to learn thatALL the colors offer the Same cooling properties… there is no difference! ALL are certified “CS80” and all will help provide a noticeable temperature change your horses will enjoy. Now— for the ability to repel bugs— the Darker colors do better. Bugs do not like feeling ’trapped’ and when they see the black or dark bay, it reminds them of a cave and they want to avoid it. So, the darker colors are a little more ‘bug repellent”

Kool Kurtains come standard lengths in 6” increments 7.0’ through 10.0’
Kool Kurtains have a 2” reinforced header with grommets at the top of each panel for easy installation and application.
Kool Kurtains are usually attached to theinsideheader of the aisle or run-in.
Ideally, Kool Kurtains panels should overlap each other by 4 to 6 inches.

All colors are certified CS80 and offer the exact same cooling properties. The darker colors are a little more bug-repellent because bugs avoid the cave-like look, and they also let slightly less light in so the interior appears a bit darker.

What sizes do Kool Kurtains™ come in?

Panels come standard at 35.5 inches wide, in lengths from 7.0' through 10.0' in 6-inch increments. Each panel has a 2-inch reinforced header with grommets at the top for easy installation. Panels should overlap each other by 4 to 6 inches, and custom lengths and applications are available.

How much do Kool Kurtains™ cost and how many panels do I need?

Kool Kurtains™ cost $69 to $99 per panel depending on how tall a panel you need, at 35.5 inches wide each with a slight overlap. As an example, a 15-foot-wide opening that is 8 feet tall (without a center pole) takes about 5 panels ordered in the 7.5-foot tall length. Measuring is easy — you only need the HEIGHT and WIDTH of the open space.

How are Kool Kurtains™ installed, and where should they hang?

They are designed to be easy to hang and are usually attached to the inside header of the aisle or run-in. Some customers use large cup hooks while others use heavy-duty staples, largely depending on how much wind the panels will face. Kool Kurtains™ should hang at least 4 to 6 inches off the ground so your horse doesn't step on them, and should never touch the ground or cover a center post or pole.

Can I leave Kool Kurtains™ up year-round, even in winter?

Absolutely. Many customers leave Kool Kurtains™ up on run-in sheds year-round, even in colder climates, because they help keep out rain and snow and preserve bedding. They also provide protection from cold winter winds, and horses enjoy the added privacy and feeling of shelter the panels create.
