What does Red Master Harrow make?
Red Master Harrow is a horse arena equipment company in Amarillo, Texas, that builds commercial-grade arena drags (harrows), watering equipment, and horse-training equipment. Owner Floyd Fain runs a 300-acre cattle and horse ranch in Texas and has worked arenas around the country, so the equipment is designed by a horseman to maximize footing safety and performance.
What makes the Red Master arena drag different from other harrows?
The adjustable ripper is what sets Red Master apart. A top link attaches the ripper to the harrow and lets you make it as aggressive or nonaggressive as you need, while the harrow stays level and keeps working the ground behind the ripper. Most other arena tools use a fixed ripper that can't be dialed in.
Which Red Master harrow is best for an all-purpose or personal arena?
The Red Master T-Rex is the all-in-one harrow, built from customer suggestions for anyone who wants a single tool for any type of arena, including personal or multi-purpose. It combines a ripper, gauge wheels, S-tines, paddle wheel, and float pan, so with its built-in versatility and adjustments you should never need another arena tool.
Do you have a harrow for synthetic or fiber footing?
Yes. The Red Master II and III work in synthetic, fiber, wood, and dirt arenas, with two rows of S-tines that add air and "cush" back into the footing. The float pan can be removed and swapped for an optional paddle wheel to match different footing types, and the Red Master II adjusts from zero to 5 inches of depth.
What harrow is made for cutting horses and deeper dirt rings?
The Red Master Cutter is based on the Red Master II and built for the deeper depths the cutting industry requires. Its two rows of S-tines are set lower for deeper harrowing, the teardrop sides are cropped to avoid plowing and turn easier, and the frame achieves zero to 6 inches of depth (up to 7 inches with repetitive harrowing and proper moisture). It also performs well in barrel racing, team penning, reining, and rodeo rings.
Can I drag my arena if I only have an ATV instead of a tractor?
Yes. The Mini-RED is built for facilities without a tractor and can be pulled behind a 4WD ATV, Mule, Gator, or other utility vehicle. It comes with an adjustable float pan and adjustable spring-tooth design to add "cush" back into your footing, and it's available in 4-foot, 5-foot, and 6-foot widths.
How much tractor horsepower do I need, and is there a dust-control option?
For the Red Master II and III, the required horsepower is 24-26 HP for the 6-foot, 26-30 HP for the 8-foot, and 38-40 HP for the 10-foot model. For dust control, the Water Wagon fits all Red Master units and comes in 500-gallon and 1,000-gallon sizes to keep arenas as dust-free as possible.
