What is SynNutra Equine?
SynNutra Equine is a company committed to the research and development of effective products designed to treat performance horse medical issues. Its products never include drugs of any kind, instead using all-natural, field-tested herbal ingredients and endogenous nutrients. The company has roots firmly planted in equine veterinary medicine, and all products are formulated, developed, and tested in its own California facility.
What does SynOsteon do for a horse's bones?
SynOsteon is formulated to support the development of a healthy frame for healthy bone. Healthy bone needs a collagen matrix for flexibility plus a support medium for calcium and phosphorus deposition, and SynOsteon supplies nutrients like choline, inositol, and silicon to build collagen, with menaquinone (vitamin K2) and beta-glucans to stimulate calcium deposition. It also includes vitamin D for calcium absorption and is a rich source of calcium and magnesium.
Can a supplement help with bucked shins and stress fractures?
SynOsteon was developed to help manage bucked shins and stress fractures of the shins, tibia, and humerus. During rigorous training, the stress cycling of the long bones often overcomes the body's ability to remodel, leading to these injuries. SynOsteon contains a unique blend of nutrients to support strong, healthy bone development. In a population of more than 100 two- and three-year-olds in the first year SynOsteon was available, none stopped training for bucked shins, tibial, or humeral stress fractures.
Why do resting horses lose bone density, and what is SynOsteon Maintenance for?
When bone-fit horses have extended periods of rest, they start reabsorbing calcium from their bones, and can reabsorb significant calcium in only a few weeks. This bone resorption can lead to very serious humeral and tibial stress fractures once training resumes. SynOsteon Maintenance is formulated to inhibit osteoclast activity and stimulate osteoblast activity so healthy bone density is maintained during rest.
Which horses need SynOsteon Maintenance?
It is intended for bone-fit horses entering periods of rest exceeding three weeks. Resting horses should take SynOsteon Maintenance until they resume galloping. Keeping bone density up during downtime helps avoid the tibial and humeral stress fractures that commonly develop during the retraining phase after a horse has been turned out.
When should young racehorses start on SynOsteon?
Young, unfit racehorses in early training should be supplemented daily when they begin training and continue through the time they are racing at full distance. This covers the months of rigorous work needed to reach racing fitness, when long-bone stress is highest. SynOsteon supports bone remodeling through that demanding build-up period.
How does SynOsteon's approach differ from a drug-based product?
SynNutra Equine combines the benefits of both western science and eastern medicine after years of research and consultation with scientists, pharmacologists, and herbologists. The result is Synergistic Neutraceuticals, a synergistic combination of endogenous and herbal nutrients, with no drugs of any kind. For example, icariins from Herba epimedii (epimedium) limit osteoclastic bone resorption and promote osteoblast activity.
