Most feed rooms tell the same story: a shelf crowded with half-used buckets, a flax bag here, a gut supplement there, a coat conditioner somewhere behind it all. Big Hoss™ by Outlaw Nutrition was built to clear that shelf. It is a single, nutrient-dense top dress that delivers concentrated plant-based Omega-3 alongside a fermentation product that helps the whole horse work better—simply, naturally, and without a cabinet full of products.

What makes Big Hoss™ different from another flax bag?

The foundation is cold-milled flaxseed, milled at low temperature so the fragile Omega-3 fats stay intact rather than oxidizing the way heat-processed flax can. That foundation delivers over 12% Omega-3 fat and more than 2,600 calories per pound, making it a genuine source of clean, plant-based energy for the hard keeper as well as the everyday horse. Layered on top is a Lactobacillus helveticus fermentation product—the abiotic blend—that helps optimize gut function and feed conversion so the horse actually absorbs more of what you are already feeding.

Where does the horse show the difference—gut, coat, digestion and hooves?

Because Big Hoss™ works on the inputs and the absorption at the same time, the results read across the whole animal. It is formulated to support healthy weight gain and feed conversion, gut integrity and immune function, muscle development, and skin, coat and hoof condition. The same Omega-3 base supports a balanced inflammatory response, performance endurance and stress resilience—the difference between a horse that merely gets through a hard week and one that recovers well from it. It is also formulated to be safe for Cushing's and insulin-resistant horses, and safe for equines of all ages.

It helped maintain weight on my Thoroughbred through increased work and winter, and kept his coat shiny.

How do you feed Big Hoss™?

Feeding is meant to be the easy part. Top dress over feed at ½ cup per 350 lbs of body weight per day, introducing it gradually over 7 to 10 days so the gut can adjust, then adjust the amount for the horse's age, weight and workload. It is sold in sizes that fit any program—a 10 lb reusable bucket that ships free, 25 lb and 50 lb bags, and 30-day and 120-day supply packs—so the all-in-one approach scales from a single backyard horse to a full string.

Who is behind Outlaw Nutrition?

Outlaw Nutrition was founded in 2018 by Jesse James, who spent years managing ingredients for major feed and animal-nutrition suppliers across the United States before setting out to build something simpler. The goal was economical, time-saving supplements that deliver multiple health benefits in one easy-to-use formula—built on cold-milled flax grown and processed in North America and sourced exclusively from reputable North American suppliers. The company runs on four stated values—quality, loyalty, honesty and integrity—and a focus on reducing reliance on unnecessary additives in favor of real-world results.

The Solution Section (FAQ)
What is Big Hoss™?

Big Hoss™ by Outlaw Nutrition is an all-in-one equine supplement built on cold-milled flaxseed and a Lactobacillus helveticus fermentation product. It is designed to consolidate several separate supplements into a single daily top dress that supports gut, coat, digestion and hooves.

Why is the flax cold-milled?

Cold milling processes the flaxseed at low temperature so the delicate Omega-3 fats are preserved rather than degraded by heat. The result is a stable source of more than 12% Omega-3 fat and over 2,600 calories per pound of concentrated, plant-based energy.

What does the fermentation blend do?

The dried Lactobacillus helveticus fermentation product is included to help optimize gut function and feed conversion. By improving how the horse digests and absorbs nutrients, it helps the rest of the diet—and the flax itself—work harder.

How much Big Hoss™ should I feed?

Top dress over feed at ½ cup per 350 lbs of body weight per day. Introduce it gradually over 7 to 10 days, then adjust the amount up or down for the horse's age, weight and workload.

Is it safe for Cushing's or insulin-resistant horses?

Yes. Big Hoss™ is formulated to be safe for Cushing's and insulin-resistant horses, and is suitable for equines of all ages, from young stock to seniors.

What benefits does Big Hoss™ support?

It is formulated to support healthy weight gain and feed conversion; gut integrity and immune function; muscle development; skin, coat and hoof condition; a balanced inflammatory response; and performance endurance, stress resilience and reproductive function.

What sizes does it come in?

Big Hoss™ is available in a 10 lb reusable bucket that ships free, 25 lb and 50 lb bags, and 30-day and 120-day supply packs. A 50 lb bag feeds roughly one horse for about three months.

Who makes Big Hoss™?

Big Hoss™ is made by Outlaw Nutrition, an animal-feed company founded in 2018 by Jesse James and built around North American cold-milled flax and the values of quality, loyalty, honesty and integrity.
