About Kate, Founder of WARMEEZE
My name is Kate Wolfe, and thanks to my best friend, my husband, my life long dream of having my own horse came true. I have ridden horses off and on since I was a young girl, but it was not until I was 50 years old that I actually got my own horse. The last three years have been ones of constant learning and lots of injuries, but never giving up even though my family thought I should. I kept reading and working and learning and I finally found the right horse, Sophie. She was a beautiful Dun mare Quarter Horse and though our time together was short she taught me so much and gave me back my confidence. She is now my Angel Sophie, always with me and she was my inspiration for the WARMEEZE. The key to anything in life is to not give up - If you can dream it, you can do it!

How Did WARMEEZE Come To Be?

WARMEEZEknee warmers were born on a cold winter night while Kate sat on the cold barn floor holding heat packs to her mare, Sophie's, legs. She had arthritis in her front knee joints and the cold bothered her, Kate's hands are always cold so she put heat packs in her gloves and it was just on a whim one night while feeding her she decided to put the heat packs to her knees to see if she would tolerate them, she did and seemed to like the heat. So every night when Kate would feed she would sit on the barn floor and hold the heat packs to her knees. Kate decided there has to be a better way for both of them and that is how the WARMEEZE came to be.

Kate has been a nurse for 35 years and somethings just do not differ whether it is human or animal, heat feels good to sore joints. The WARMEEZE was designed for comfort not healing, and she has seen her horse Sophie stand and close her eyes after she has her WARMEEZE on. The heat helps support blood flow to the area, helps to loosen the stiff joints and the muscles surrounding the joint. The heat makes it feel better to move and in the end that is what it is all about, making your horse feel good.

What Is WARMEEZE?

A WARMEEZE is a soft fleece wrap with inner pockets that hold disposable heat packs. The wraps can be used on knees and hocks to help with the stiffness and soreness that comes with arthritis. The colors for the WARMEEZE are Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe.

What Sizes Are Offered For WARMEEZE?

There are three sizes of the WARMEEZE - Small - will fit ponies, mini donkey's, the hocks on horses, these will use the hand warmer size heat pack. Regular - will fit an average horse - ie Quarter Horse, Standard Bred, Morgan, etc - these can use the hand warmer size and the body warmer size heat packs. Large - will fit your draft type horses, these can also use the hand warmer or body warmer size of heat packs. Any question about what size can be solved by calling and asking for Kate, I will be glad to answer any questions.

Where Do I Buy Heat Packets For WARMEEZE?

The heat packs that are used in the WARMEEZE can be found wherever hunting supplies are sold as well as hardware stores.

Do You Offer WARMEEZE Horse Blankets?

Yes! We are excited to announce that we are making a WARMEEZE Blanket, this will be out by February 2012. The blanket will be offered, at least initially, in one color, Black and White Zebra. The WARMEEZE Blanket is designed for a couple of purposes. It can be used under a blanket to help provide warmth to a cold horse, there will be pockets not only along the spine but at the hips one each side by the ribs and on the withers. There will be lots of choices for where to apply the warmth. This blanket can also be used to loosen up the spine and the muscles along the spine to help keep your horse limber. For those who do manipulations on horses this would be a great tool. Things move back into place easier when everything is loosened up.

What exactly is a WARMEEZE knee warmer?

WARMEEZE is a soft fleece wrap built with inner pockets that hold disposable heat packs, fitted around a horse's knee or hock to deliver steady, gentle warmth. The design borrows directly from human heat-therapy practice: rather than medicating or claiming to cure, it simply surrounds a stiff or sore joint with comforting heat the way a person might wrap a heating pad around an aching knee. The result is a low-tech, no-prescription comfort tool aimed at the achy, weather-sensitive joints of older and arthritic horses.

Who created WARMEEZE and why?

WARMEEZE was created by Kate Wolfe, a registered nurse with 35 years in the healthcare field whose lifelong dream of owning a horse came true at age 50. The idea grew out of caring for her own mare, Sophie, a Dun Quarter Horse with arthritis in her front knees. On cold nights Kate would stand in the barn holding disposable heat packs against Sophie's stiff legs, and that hands-on ritual became the seed of the product. As Kate puts it, "heat feels good to sore joints whether the patient is human or animal" — a nurse's instinct translated into equine care.

How heat therapy eases stiff equine joints

The wrap works on the same principle clinicians use for human joints: applied warmth encourages blood circulation to the affected area and helps loosen stiff joints and the surrounding muscles, making movement more comfortable. Disposable air-activated heat packs tuck into the wrap's inner pockets, so the warmth is held right against the knee or hock instead of dissipating into the cold barn air. WARMEEZE is positioned as a comfort aid, not a medical treatment — its job is to make a sore, weather-stiffened horse feel better, particularly on cold mornings and through winter nights.

Sizing that fits ponies to draft horses

WARMEEZE comes in three sizes so the wrap fits the joint snugly. Small suits ponies, mini donkeys, and horse hocks and takes hand-warmer-size heat packs. Regular fits average horses — Quarter Horses, Standardbreds, and Morgans — and accepts hand-warmer or body-warmer packs. Large is cut for draft horses and likewise holds hand- or body-warmer packs. Matching pack size to wrap size keeps the heat surface flush against the joint for even coverage.

Colors, the WARMEEZE Blanket, and Heat-Pack Options
The fleece wraps are offered in playful prints — Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe — so owners can add a bit of personality to a practical piece of gear. WARMEEZE has also offered a full WARMEEZE Blanket in Black and White Zebra, built with multiple pocket placements so heat packs can be positioned across the body wherever a horse needs warmth. The disposable heat packs themselves are the same widely available, air-activated warmers sold at hunting-supply stores and hardware stores, which keeps refills inexpensive and easy to restock.

How to order WARMEEZE

Owners can reach WARMEEZE founder Kate Wolfe directly by phone at to discuss sizing, color choices, and ordering. The brand's longtime home online is warmeeze.webs.com. Because each wrap is a simple, durable fleece piece that reuses standard store-bought heat packs, WARMEEZE is an affordable, repeatable way to keep an arthritic or senior horse comfortable through cold weather.

The Solution Section (FAQ)
What is WARMEEZE?
WARMEEZE is a soft fleece wrap with inner pockets that hold disposable heat packs. It is made to be used on a horse's knees and hocks to help with the stiffness and soreness that come with arthritis. The wrap was designed for comfort rather than healing.
How does applying heat help an arthritic horse's joints?
Heat helps support blood flow to the area and helps loosen the stiff joint and the muscles surrounding it. That makes it more comfortable for the horse to move, which is the whole point of the WARMEEZE. Founder Kate Wolfe, a nurse of 35 years, notes that heat feels good to sore joints whether the patient is human or animal.
What sizes does WARMEEZE come in, and how do I choose one?
WARMEEZE comes in three sizes. Small fits ponies, mini donkeys, and the hocks on horses; Regular fits an average horse such as a Quarter Horse, Standardbred, or Morgan; and Large fits draft-type horses. If you are unsure which size to choose, you can call 814-935-8207 and ask for Kate.
What size heat packs do the wraps use?
The Small size uses the hand-warmer size of heat pack. The Regular and Large sizes can use either the hand-warmer or the body-warmer size heat pack, giving you flexibility depending on how much warmth your horse needs.
Where do I buy the heat packs that go inside WARMEEZE?
The disposable heat packs used in WARMEEZE can be found wherever hunting supplies are sold, as well as at hardware stores. This makes them easy to restock locally so you can keep the wraps warm through the winter.
Can WARMEEZE be used on the hocks as well as the knees?
Yes. The wraps are made for both knees and hocks to help ease the stiffness and soreness of arthritis. For hocks on a full-size horse, the Small size is the recommended fit.
What colors are available?
WARMEEZE wraps are offered in Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe. The colorful fleece patterns let you pick a look you like while keeping your horse's joints warm.
How can I order WARMEEZE or ask which size is right for my horse?

Who invented WARMEEZE and what is the story behind it?
WARMEEZE was created by Kate Wolfe, a registered nurse with 35 years in healthcare who got her first horse at age 50. She invented it while caring for her own mare, Sophie, a Dun Quarter Horse with arthritis in her front knees. On cold nights Kate would hold heat packs against Sophie's legs, and that practice grew into the WARMEEZE wrap.
How does WARMEEZE help an arthritic horse?
Applied heat encourages blood circulation to the sore area and helps loosen stiff joints and surrounding muscles, which makes movement more comfortable. The wrap holds disposable heat packs right against the knee or hock so the warmth stays where it is needed. Kate Wolfe based the approach on the same heat therapy used for human patients, reasoning that 'heat feels good to sore joints whether the patient is human or animal.'
Is WARMEEZE a cure or medical treatment for arthritis?
No. WARMEEZE is presented as a comfort product, not a cure or a veterinary treatment. It does not medicate the horse; it simply applies soothing warmth to ease stiffness and soreness, much like a person using a heating pad on an aching joint. For diagnosis and treatment of joint disease you should still consult your veterinarian.
What sizes does WARMEEZE come in?
WARMEEZE is available in three sizes. Small fits ponies, mini donkeys, and horse hocks. Regular fits average horses such as Quarter Horses, Standardbreds, and Morgans. Large is sized for draft horses.
Which heat packs fit each size?
The Small size takes hand-warmer-size heat packs. The Regular and Large sizes can each use either hand-warmer or body-warmer packs. Matching the pack size to the wrap helps keep the warmth flush against the joint for even coverage.
Where do I buy the disposable heat packs?
The disposable, air-activated heat packs used in WARMEEZE are the same kind sold at hunting-supply stores and hardware stores. They are inexpensive and easy to find, which makes refilling the wrap simple and affordable. You can stock up on them separately from the wrap itself.
What colors and patterns are available?
The WARMEEZE fleece wraps come in several fun prints: Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe. The playful patterns let owners add a bit of personality to a practical piece of cold-weather gear.
Is there a WARMEEZE full-body blanket?
Yes. WARMEEZE has offered a WARMEEZE Blanket in a Black and White Zebra print. The blanket is built with multiple pocket placements so heat packs can be positioned across the horse's body wherever warmth is needed, extending the same heat-therapy idea beyond the knees and hocks.
Which horses benefit most from WARMEEZE?
WARMEEZE is aimed at horses with stiff, sore, or arthritic joints, especially older and senior horses whose knees and hocks ache in cold weather. It is also useful for any horse that gets stiff on cold mornings or through winter nights. With three sizes, it fits everything from ponies and mini donkeys up to draft horses.
What is WARMEEZE made of?
WARMEEZE is made of soft fleece, which is comfortable against the horse's leg and helps hold heat in. Inside the fleece are pockets sized to hold disposable heat packs. The simple, durable construction is meant to be reused season after season with fresh heat packs.
How do I order WARMEEZE?
You can order directly from founder Kate Wolfe by calling 814-935-8207, where she can help with sizing and color choices. The brand's online home is warmeeze.webs.com. Reaching out by phone is the most reliable way to confirm availability and place an order.
How long does the warmth from a heat pack last?
WARMEEZE uses standard air-activated disposable heat packs of the type sold for hunting and outdoor use, which typically provide several hours of warmth before they need to be replaced. Larger body-warmer packs generally run longer than smaller hand-warmer packs. Because the packs are inexpensive and widely available, you can simply swap in a fresh one when the warmth fades.
When is the best time to use WARMEEZE on my horse?
WARMEEZE is most useful in cold weather, particularly on chilly mornings and through winter nights when arthritic joints tend to stiffen up most. Applying gentle heat before turnout, exercise, or a long cold stretch can help loosen the joint and surrounding muscles. Always monitor your horse's comfort and adjust based on how the horse responds.
Can WARMEEZE be used on the hock as well as the knee?
Yes. The Small size is specifically noted as fitting horse hocks in addition to ponies and mini donkeys, so the wrap is not limited to the front knees. The full WARMEEZE Blanket further extends warmth to other parts of the body with its multiple pocket placements. This makes the WARMEEZE line adaptable to wherever a horse carries its stiffness.
Why did a nurse design horse gear?
Kate Wolfe spent 35 years as a nurse before getting her own horse at age 50, so she came to horse care with a deep background in human heat and comfort therapy. When her mare Sophie developed knee arthritis, Kate naturally applied what she knew about easing sore human joints. That crossover of nursing experience and horse ownership is exactly what produced WARMEEZE.
Is WARMEEZE reusable?
Yes. The fleece wrap itself is a durable, reusable garment; only the disposable heat packs inside it are replaced as they cool. This keeps ongoing costs low, since the heat packs are inexpensive store-bought items. With reasonable care a single WARMEEZE wrap can serve a horse through many cold seasons.
