What exactly are Wind and Barn Screens by Covermaster?

Wind and Barn Screens are custom-sized fence and barn panels engineered to hang on open-sided riding arenas, covered stables and equestrian centers so wind and rain stop blowing onto your footing and your horses. Covermaster builds them from high tensile-strength fabrics in open or closed weaves, in many weights and grades, so a busy boarding barn and a backyard dressage ring can each get the screen density they need. Beyond weather blocking, the same panels add sun shading, noise reduction, privacy and a cleaner, more finished look to your arena perimeter.

Who makes them and how long have they been doing it?

The screens are produced by Covermaster, Inc., a Toronto-based manufacturer that has supplied sport-surface covers to athletic facilities worldwide since 1969 — more than 55 years in the protective-cover business. The same engineering that protects pro baseball infields, football fields and ice rinks is applied to the equine line, which spans windscreens, riding-arena raincovers, turf blankets, stall and rail padding, and floor protection. What fabric and construction go into a Windmaster windscreen?

The flagship Windmaster PRO™ uses a 10oz vinyl-coated polyester mesh with 78% visibility blockage, 7-ply reinforced corners, 3-ply double-needle lock-stitched hems and built-in brass grommets every 12 inches. The lighter Windmaster Ultra™ is a 9oz vinyl-coated polyester mesh at 70–80% blockage with the same 3-ply reinforced hems and 12-inch brass grommet spacing. The lineup also includes Windmaster Extreme™, Lite™, Solid™, Knit™, the Tuffy Windscreen and a Windmaster Digital Print™ option for full-panel graphics.

How do the screens install and hold up outdoors?

Panels attach with zip ties run through the perimeter grommets, fastening either directly to your arena posts or to tension cables strung between the posts — no special hardware or framing required. The vinyl-coated polyester mesh is ultra-violet resistant, and the reinforced corners and hems are designed to take repeated wind loading without tearing out at the attachment points. Windmaster PRO™ carries a 5-year limited warranty and Windmaster Ultra™ a 4-year limited warranty.

What colors and custom options can you order?

Windmaster PRO™ ships in black, green, gray, light blue, light green, maroon, midnight blue, purple, red and royal blue; Windmaster Ultra™ adds brown, dark green, kelly green, orange, white and yellow. Standard heights are 6' and 9', with custom heights and lengths made to order for any arena footprint.
