About Kate, Founder of Warmeeze

My name is Kate Wolfe, and thanks to my best friend, my husband, my life long dream of having my own horse came true. I have ridden horses off and on since I was a young girl, but it was not until I was 50 years old that I actually got my own horse. The last three years have been ones of constant learning and lots of injuries, but never giving up even though my family thought I should. I kept reading and working and learning and I finally found the right horse, Sophie. She was a beautiful Dun mare Quarter Horse and though our time together was short she taught me so much and gave me back my confidence. She is now my Angel Sophie, always with me and she was my inspiration for the Warmeeze.

The key to anything in life is to not give up - If you can dream it, you can do it!

How Did Warmeeze Come To Be?

Warmeezeknee warmers were born on a cold winter night while Kate sat on the cold barn floor holding heat packs to her mare, Sophie's, legs. She had arthritis in her front knee joints and the cold bothered her, Kate's hands are always cold so she put heat packs in her gloves and it was just on a whim one night while feeding her she decided to put the heat packs to her knees to see if she would tolerate them, she did and seemed to like the heat. So every night when Kate would feed she would sit on the barn floor and hold the heat packs to her knees. Kate decided there has to be a better way for both of them and that is how the Warmeeze came to be.

Kate has been a nurse for 35 years and somethings just do not differ whether it is human or animal, heat feels good to sore joints. The Warmeeze was designed for comfort not healing, and she has seen her horse Sophie stand and close her eyes after she has her Warmeeze on. The heat helps support blood flow to the area, helps to loosen the stiff joints and the muscles surrounding the joint. The heat makes it feel better to move and in the end that is what it is all about, making your horse feel good.

What Is Warmeeze?

A Warmeeze is a soft fleece wrap with inner pockets that hold disposable heat packs. The wraps can be used on knees and hocks to help with the stiffness and soreness that comes with arthritis. What exactly is a Warmeeze knee warmer?

A Warmeeze is a soft fleece wrap built with inner pockets that hold disposable, air-activated heat packs. It fastens around a horse's knee or hock to deliver gentle, even warmth directly to the joint. Founder Kate Wolfe is clear about its purpose: the Warmeeze was designed for comfort, not as a medical or healing device, giving stiff, cold-sensitive joints the same soothing heat that feels good on sore human joints.

Who created Warmeeze and why?

Warmeeze was created by Kathlene "Kate" Wolfe of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, a registered nurse with 35 years of experience who got her first horse at age 50. The idea was born on a cold winter night while Kate sat on the barn floor holding heat packs against the arthritic front knees of her Dun Quarter Horse mare, Sophie. When Sophie tolerated and visibly relaxed under the warmth, Kate reasoned there had to be a better way for both of them — and the Warmeeze was the result. Sophie, now passed, remains the inspiration behind the product.

How the soothing heat works on stiff joints

Each Warmeeze wrap holds disposable heat packs in inner pockets positioned over the knee or hock. Kate explains that the heat helps support blood flow to the area and helps loosen the stiff joint and the muscles surrounding it, so the joint feels better to move. As a 35-year nurse, she notes that some things do not differ between human and animal care — heat simply feels good on sore joints — and she has watched Sophie stand and close her eyes once her Warmeeze was on.

Sizes and Color Options

Warmeeze is offered in three sizes. Small fits ponies, mini donkeys, and the hocks on horses, and uses the hand-warmer-size heat pack. Regular fits an average horse such as a Quarter Horse, Standardbred, or Morgan and accepts either hand-warmer or body-warmer heat packs. Large fits draft-type horses and also takes either heat-pack size. Colors include Rainbow Zebra, Light Pink Leopard, Brown Leopard, and Golden Brown Giraffe.

The Warmeeze warming blanket for the whole horse

Beyond the knee and hock wraps, Warmeeze introduced a warming Blanket offered initially in a Black and White Zebra pattern. It carries heat-pack pockets not only along the spine but at the hips on each side by the ribs and on the withers, giving owners many placement choices. The blanket can be layered under a regular blanket to add warmth for a cold horse, or used to loosen the spine and the muscles along it to help keep a horse limber — a handy tool for anyone who does manipulations or bodywork on horses.

How to order Warmeeze and where to find heat packs

To order or ask which size fits your horse, call Kate directly, or. The business is based at 5 Christy Lane, Tyrone, Pennsylvania 16686. The disposable heat packs that power the Warmeeze are widely available wherever hunting supplies are sold, as well as at most hardware stores, so refills are easy and inexpensive to keep on hand through the winter.
